The company’s Global Environmental & Infrastructure Business segment conducts infrastructure projects, related trading operations, and other activities in power generation, water transportation, and other infrastructure fields. Its Metals segment invests in, develops, and trades steel sheets and thick plates; coking coal and iron ore; and non-ferrous raw materials and products, including copper and aluminum. The company’s Machinery segment invests in, finances, and sells machine tools, agricultural machinery, construction machinery, mining machinery, elevators, escalators, ships, aerospace-related equipment, and motor vehicles. Its Chemicals segment invests, develops, and trades basic materials, such as ethylene, methanol, and salt produced from crude oil, natural gas, minerals, plants, marine resources, and others, as well as plastics, electronic materials, food ingredients, fertilizers, and fine chemicals. The company’s Living Essentials segment provides products and services, as well as develops businesses and invests in various fields, including food products and food, textiles, essential supplies, healthcare, distribution, and retail. Mitsubishi Corporation also provides consulting, and system and IT infrastructure integrated services. The company was founded in 1950 and is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.

BHP Billiton Reportedly Contender For Zaldivar

BHP Billiton Group-led consortium has emerged as a possible buyer for the acquisition of Zaldivar copper mine in Chile from Barrick Gold Corporation (TSX:ABX). Final bids for Zaldivar are due in July 1015. It has been speculated that BHP could lodge a second-round bid with Rio Tinto Group and a Mitsubishi Corporation (TSE:8058) led Japanese consortium. Barrick has offered up to 50% stake which could fetch $1 billion, but is understood to be open to a full sale.

Mitsubishi Corporation Announces Partnership with Sembcorp Development on Housing Development Project in Vietnam

Mitsubishi Corporation announced that it will be working in partnership with Sembcorp Development on a housing development project in Vietnam. The project will involve the construction of eleven 16-18 story condominiums in the province of Binh Duong, just north of Ho Chi Minh City. Some 1,419 units are planned for the complex, which will be built in phases in the main gate area of Binh Duong's Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park. Project outline includes: Land Area is 40,100 square meter. Floor Area is 163,436 square meter. Number of Buildings is 11 towers. Number of Units is 1,419. Estimated development schedule phase I start date is July 2015. Start of sale of Phase I units is October 2015 and completion date is first quarter of 2017.
