Marriott Hotels to Open More Fairfield Properties in India Soon

Marriott Hotels will soon add another Fairfield to the brand's portfolio in India. The location for the next Fairfield to open is either Bengaluru or Lucknow. Work at both sites is in full swing and if the Bengaluru property opens first, it will be the second in that city. The Agra hotel is the 12 property of Courtyard by Marriott in India and will spearhead the 1000 milestone celebrations of the brand worldwide. Courtyard Walla Walla in Washington will be designated as the 1000 hotel. With this launch, Marriott is now present in the Golden Triangle with hotels in Delhi, Jaipur and Agra.

Marriott International Names John McCracken as General Manager for the Orlando Marriott Village

Marriott International named John McCracken as general manager for the Orlando Marriott Village. Beginning as a bellman, McCracken's career spans more than a quarter of a century. McCracken was first introduced to Marriott brands while working at Courtyard Richmond Airport in Sandston, VA and Courtyard Charlottesville – University Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. After relocating to Orlando to be closer to his family, McCracken was named general manager of Residence Inn Orlando Convention Center. McCracken then became the assistant general manager for the Orlando Marriott Village, overseeing the food and beverage operations for the complex's Lake Buena Vista hotels. Following two successful years at the Marriott Village, McCracken was promoted to general manager of Residence Inn International Drive.

Marriott International Mulls Acquisition

Marriott International, Inc. (NasdaqGS:MAR) is seeking acquisitions. Arne Sorenson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marriott International, said in Marriott International earnings call on being asked about acquisition, “And I think what we've found is acquisitions that seem to be priced in a way that allows us to get to creating economic value and earnings accretion fairly quickly, and priced well below our Company valuation given to us by market. So you see that accretion quite quickly. And in every instance we found deals that give us a new platform for growth. That's the real silver lining here. We are not going out simply to acquire additional rooms to drive our rooms count; but we are really going out to try and either develop brands internally, which is cheaper in some respects but harder in some respects, because you start at zero, obviously, in terms of current distribution. Or acquire.”
