Magellan Aerospace Wins Engine Maintenance Contract Option Year for CF-188 F404

Magellan Aerospace announced the award of an option year related to the contract for engine repair and overhaul (R&O) of the F404 engine that powers Canada's fleet of CF-188 Hornet aircraft. The one-year, follow-on option year commenced on 1 April 2015, and has projected value added revenue of CAD 16 million. The work will be carried out at Magellan's facility in Mississauga, Ontario. Under the terms of the contract, the Corporation will provide maintenance, engineering, material management, provision of Field Service Representatives, and Publication support for the CF-188 F404 engine and ancillary components. In addition to supporting Canada's CF-188 F404 fleet, Magellan is a proven supplier, as well as Centre of Excellence, in the worldwide F404 engine R&O support market. There are approximately 4,000 F404 engines currently in service in 15 countries around the world.

Magellan Aerospace Unveils its New Advanced Satellite Integration Facility

Magellan Aerospace unveiled its new Advanced Satellite Integration Facility (ASIF) in partnership with the University of Manitoba that the company believes will foster a productive relationship between academia and industry. The Winnipeg-based 6,000-square-foot facility aims to expand not only Magellan's own satellite operations, but also the presence of the nearby university in the satellite-engineering field. Magellan has designed and launched three satellites, including Scisat, a SmallSat the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) launched more than 10 years ago to study ozone depletion in the atmosphere. The company also developed Cassiope, which was launched just over a year ago to conduct space environment research as well as advanced telecommunications technology demonstrations. Through those previous projects, Magellan has often employed engineers and technicians at the university to help the company find a better way of doing things. The second aim of the facility, however, is to allow for Magellan to grow its own capabilities, particularly in the way of new contracts the company has established with its major customer for satellite programs and buses, the CSA.

Magellan Aerospace to Open New Precision Machining Facility in Mielec, Poland

Magellan Aerospace announced that it will open a new, advanced, precision machining facility in Mielec, Poland. The new machining centre complements Magellan's existing surface treatment facility in Poland and is expected to be fully operational in the second half of 2015. The facility will initially specialise in the production of small to medium size components for the aerospace market, and will be further expanded to incorporate precision assembly and aeroengine machining. The expansion of Magellan's operations in Poland are in support of company's customers' growing demand for globalisation.
