Lloyds Bank Commercial Enters into New Agreement with Tamworth Borough Council in the UK

Lloyds Bank Commercial has announced that it has secured a new agreement with Tamworth Borough Council in the UK. The new deal means that the bank has access to ongoing banking facilities across all of the local authority's services. The council had previously been dealing with another service provider.

UK Bank Trade Groups May Merge

HSBC Holdings plc (LSE:HSBA), Barclays Bank PLC and Lloyds Banking Group plc (LSE:LLOY) told nine trade associations in Britain to merge into a single body. Nine trade associations are Asset based Finance Association, Finance And Leasing Association, Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association, Tax Incentivised Savings and Investment Association, Payments Council Ltd, British Bankers Association, The Uk Cards Association Ltd, Council of Mortgage Lenders, and Wealth Management Association. Banks said in a consultation paper there are too many trade groups, leading to duplication of lobbying and a lack of strategic direction. "Many trade associations acknowledge that this lack of coordination undermines the strength of UK industry representation in Brussels," the paper said. "It could help the industry rebuild trust amongst its customers," the paper added.

Government TO Sell A 5.4% Stake Lloyds Bank

The government plans to sell as much as 5.4% of Lloyds Banking Group plc (LSE:LLOY) over the next six and a half months. George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said, "This government is determined to strengthen the banking system and to get back to the taxpayers the money that was put into the banks."
