Lucara Reports Ongoing Recovery of Exceptional Diamonds

Lucara Diamond Corp. announced to report the recovery of a number of exceptional diamonds at its Karowe Mine in Botswana. The resource is continuing to deliver according to expectations with the recovery of a spectacular Type IIa, 336 carat diamond. In addition to this recovery, a further three exceptional diamonds were recovered over this past weekend, a 184 carat stone, a 94 carat and a 86 carat stone. A 12 carat pale pink diamond was also recovered, the color of which will be confirmed post cleaning. Over the past three years, since the recovery of the first large diamond from the Karowe Diamond Mine in 2013, Lucara has recovered 216 diamonds that have sold for more than $250,000 each. Twelve of these diamonds sold for more than $5.0 million each.

Lucara Diamond Corp. Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2015; Revises Earnings and Operating Guidance for the Year 2015

Lucara Diamond Corp. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company’s revenue was $38.1 million compared to $71.0 million last year. Net income attributable to shareholders of the company was $8.6 million or $0.02 per basic and diluted share compared to $15.6 million or $0.04 per basic and diluted share for the same period a year ago. Adjusted basic and diluted earnings per share were $0.02 compared to $0.10 per share last year. Income from mining operations was $16,095,000 compared to $49,604,000 last year. Net income before tax was $14,151,000 compared to $36,107,000 last year. Cash flows from operating activities were $1,133,000 compared to $41,086,000 last year. Acquisition of plant and equipment was $4,538,000 compared to $5,621,000 last year. The three months ended June 30, 2015 EBITDA was $16.4 million compared to $47.9 million in the three month period ended June 30, 2014. The decrease in EBITDA as compared to the prior year was due to the timing of the Company exceptional stones tender compared with the prior year. Operating earnings were $19.5 million against $52.7 million a year ago. Adjusted net income for the period was $8.6 million against $24.2 million a year ago. For the six months, the company reported net income attributable to shareholders of the company of $14.7 million or $0.04 per basic and diluted share compared to $20.79 million or $0.05 per basic and diluted share for the same period a year ago. Revenue was $67.8 million compared to $103.8 million last year. Adjusted basic and diluted earnings per share were $0.04 compared to $0.13 per share last year. Income from mining operations was $27,291,000 compared to $62,710,000 last year. Net income before tax was $24,372,000 compared to $43,652,000 last year. Cash flows from operating activities were $5,216,000 compared to $50,320,000 last year. Acquisition of plant and equipment was $15,153,000 compared to $7,493,000 last year. EBITDA was $28.4 million compared to $61.3 million a year ago. Operating earnings were $34.7 million against $69.6 million a year ago. Adjusted net income for the period was $14.6 million against $31.3 million a year ago. As the company will be milling at a slower rate for the second half of the year 2015, the forecast for 2015 has been revised. It is expected that Karowe will process between 2.2 million to 2.3 million tonnes of ore compared to previous guidance of 2.3 tonnes to 2.4 million tonnes and to sell 350,000 to 400,000 carats of diamond in 2015 compared to previous guidance of 400,000 carats to 420,000 carats.  Ore mined is consistent with previous guidance at between 2.5 million to 2.8 million tonnes and waste mined of between 12.0 tonnes to 12.5 million tonnes. Ore mined is consistent with previous guidance at between 2.5-2.8 million tonnes and waste mined of between 12.0-12.5 million tonnes. For the year 2015, the company’s revenue forecast has been reduced to between $200 million and $220 million compared to previous guidance of $230 million to $240 million, reflective of volume and a weaker diamond market. The company is sustaining capital expenditures of between $4.5 million to $5.5 million for the year. The company maintains its forecast to spend between $7.0 million to $8.0 million on exploration.
