In addition, it offers network processor chips; evaluation boards and network-processor based systems that enable customers to test network processor unit-based systems; and development software toolkits, which assist customers in creating, verifying, and implementing solutions based on the company’s network processors. Further, the company provides a library comprising Metro Ethernet protocols, multi-protocol label switching, IPv4 and IPv6 routing, access control lists, GPON/EPON OLT functionality, network address translation, and server load balancing that features data plane code for various applications. It serves networking equipment vendors directly, as well as through contract manufacturers and distributors primarily in Israel, China, Hong Kong, the Far East, Canada, the United States, Europe, and others. The company was formerly known as LanOptics Ltd. and changed its name to EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. in July 2008. EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. was founded in 1989 and is based in Yokneam, Israel.

MoSys, Inc. and EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. Announce NPS and Bandwidth Engine Collaboration to Enhance Network Processing Capabilities for Smart Terabit-Scale Systems

MoSys and EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. announced a collaboration where MoSys has optimized a version of its Bandwidth Engine® 3 family specifically for the EZchipNPS family of C-programmable network processors. The combination of NPS together with the serial interface, fast memory and intelligent offload features of the Bandwidth Engine, target unprecedented flexibility, scalability and performance for high-speed, smart and secure terabit routers, switches and network appliances, in carrier, cloud and data-center networks. The NPS and the specialized Bandwidth Engine solution deliver performance scalability and feature flexibility to network and data center equipment OEMs faced with ever increasing requirements for features, intelligence and capacities that range from 100s of gigabits to terabits per second. The NPS family of network processors announced by EZchip includes a broad range of features, including 256 C-programmable processors, 4K threads, traffic management, deep packet inspection (DPI), security and search accelerations, at an industry leading 400Gbps throughput. The MoSys® Bandwidth Engine 3 architecture includes an efficient low pin count, serial memory interface, 1Gb of high speed memory in a multi-ported, multi-partitioned configuration, and flexible offload capabilities to accelerate statistics, metering, search and other functions. The Bandwidth Engine devices will interface to NPS processors through a highly-efficient GigaChip® Interface (GCI) operating at up to 15Gbps. Specific optimizations for communicating with the EZchip NPS devices have been included in the transaction and interface protocol to further enhance performance and efficiency when an NPS processor and one or more Bandwidth Engine devices are combined. Using 16 SerDes lanes, the combined solution provides an additional 200Gbps full duplex bandwidth, providing a substantial bandwidth increase. MoSys and EZchip have been working closely together on the integration and verification of technology and plan to sample the combined solution to customers in 2015.

EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. Advances the NP-5 200-Gigabit Network Processor to Production

EZchip Semiconductor Ltd. announced that its latest network processor, the 200-Gigabit NP-5, is now in full production. Following extensive testing and qualification, the NP-5 is now being delivered in quantity to EZchip's customers for deployment in Tier-1 carrier and data-center networks. The NP-5 has secured design wins among carrier router vendors as well as other network equipment vendors and provides a natural scale-up path for customers that use EZchip's market-leading NP-4 100-Gigabit processor. The NP-5 sells at roughly a 50% higher ASP and enables vendors to double and triple the port density of their line cards. With the NP-5, EZchip's customers can now deliver higher port-density line cards with multiple 40-Gigabit and 100-Gigabit ports, while continuing their offering of NP-4 based line cards for 10-Gigabit ports. The NP-5 provides unprecedented integration and enables building routers and switches for carrier networks as well as for data center network equipment with exceptional port density and functionality while reducing overall cost. The NP-5 drives line cards and appliances that feature multiple 100 and 40-Gigabit ports as well as numerous 10-Gigabit ports. Through its versatility and rich feature set, the NP-5 serves a wide variety of carrier and data center applications. NP-5 highlights include: 200-Gigabit programmable packet processing; Integrated 200-Gigabit hierarchical traffic management; Ethernet ports with integrated MACs supporting 48x10-Gigabit /12 x 40-Gigabit /4x100-Gigabit interfaces of combinations thereof; Enhanced memory management for lookup tables, packet buffering and statistics; all using commodity DDR3 devices for minimized cost and power; 10GBase-KR links for direct connection to the system's backplane; Power management for minimizing line card and system power dissipation; On-chip control CPU for host CPU offload; Operations, Administration and Management processing offload; Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE1588v2 offload for Circuit Emulation Services; IP reassembly for advanced packet processing offload.
