Airbus Defence and Space and Lockheed Martin Overseas Services Receives Contract to Jointly Perform Mid-Life Upgrade, Re-Winging

Airbus Defence and Space and Lockheed Martin Overseas Services have received a contract to jointly perform a Mid-Life Upgrade (MLU), re-winging, of the German Navy fleet of P-3C Orion maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare aircraft. Under the eight-year contract, which was awarded by the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology, and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), the companies will be responsible to upgrade eight aircraft. Within the partnership, Airbus Defence and Space will carry out integration, installation, and check out of the MLU-K15 kits for the P-3C Orion aircraft at Manching, Germany. The latest agreement will see the production of eight MLU-kits, which includes outer wing, centre fuselage, and horizontal stabiliser, by LMOSC. The kits will be manufactured in Marietta, Georgia, as well as other locations in the US. The 35.61m-long P-3C maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft has been designed to support missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare, surveillance and reconnaissance, as well as search-and-rescue and drug interdiction. Airbus Defence and Space currently offers full in-service support for the German Navy's P-3C Orion fleet.

Lockheed Martin, Cisco, Cloudera, Illumina, Intel and Montgomery College Announce Formation of New Healthcare Technology Alliance

Lockheed Martin announced the formation of a new healthcare technology alliance, combining the expertise of leading health IT providers, medical technology companies, and academic institutions to advance public health. The Lockheed Martin Healthcare Technology Alliance's founding members include: Cisco, Cloudera, Illumina, Intel and Montgomery College. Through collaboration between health IT industry and academic partners, this team will develop and refine technologies that will help guide decisions for care, diagnosis and treatment of disease while protecting critical health information. The members of the Lockheed Martin Healthcare Technology Alliance will collaborate on technology solutions that help improve care in rapidly evolving and growing areas of health technology such as those that: secure patient medical information; leverage advances in genomic research; and apply big data solutions to improve public health.

Lockheed Martin Receives $1.5 Billion Missile Interceptor Deal

Lockheed Martin received $1.5 billion Missile Interceptor deal. United States and allied military forces are set to upgrade key missile defense capabilities under a new $1.5 billion contract for production and delivery of Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missiles and PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (PAC-3 MSE) missiles. The contract includes PAC-3 and PAC-3 MSE interceptor deliveries for the U.S. Army, and Foreign Military Sales of PAC-3 interceptors, associated equipment and spares for the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
