Lloyds Banking Group Appoints Kate Cheetham as New General Counsel

Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Kate Cheetham as its new general counsel. Cheetham was previously deputy general counsel to Andrew Whittaker who took on the role on a fixed two-year term in May 2013. Whittaker will be leaving the business and is expected to seek "non-executive roles". Cheetham was appointed deputy general counsel in December 2012, jointly overseeing the bank's legal team. Before joining the bank she was a corporate partner at Linklaters. Prior to that she ran a commercial art gallery in London for five years.

Lloyds Supports Conservatives' Share Sale Plan

Finance minister George Osborne said on April 19, 2015 that he intended to sell billions of pounds of government-owned shares in Lloyds Banking Group plc (LSE:LLOY) to small investors if Britain's Conservative Party wins Britain's national election in May 2015. "The sale of the stake is clearly a matter for the government. We will support the government in whatever way is required in due course," a Lloyds spokesman said. The Conservative Party said investors would be able to buy between £250 and £10,000 of Lloyds shares, with priority going to orders of up to £1,000. The shares would be sold at a 5% discount to market value and investors who hold their shares for a year would receive an extra 10%, up to a value of £200. Lloyds would need to prepare a prospectus to help to market any sale of shares to retail investors. "There are now more options to sell the shares in different ways," James Leigh-Pemberton, chairman of UK Financial Investments (UKFI), the body that manages the government's stake, said in a letter to Osborne in March 2015.

Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking Announces Board Changes

Johnson was most recently with Deloitte's Leeds branch, where he worked in the corporate finance advisory practice. Meanwhile, McCann, who joined as an associate director in 2013, will now be responsible for private equity-backed acquisitions and refinancing, mainly in Yorkshire.
