Linde Group and OMV Open New Hydrogen Fuelling Station in Innsbruck

The Linde Group and OMV officially opened a new hydrogen fuelling station in Innsbruck. The H2 station with the capacity to fuel six vehicles per hour is located on one of Europe's key transit routes and will make the journey from Germany to Italy feasible for fuel-cell vehicles. Austria's second public hydrogen fuelling station bridges the existing H2 hubs in Munich and Bolzano. It was built as part of the EU-funded HyFIVE (Hydrogen for Innovative Vehicles) project, which aims to equip a number of cities across Europe (London, Copenhagen, Stuttgart, Munich, Innsbruck, Bolzano) for the upcoming commercialisation of fuel-cell vehicles. The Innsbruck fuelling station is equipped with Linde's proprietary 700-bar IC90 ionic compressor, which combines the advantages of low energy consumption, low maintenance and a small footprint. In order to meet rising demand for H2 infrastructure, Linde has been running the world's first small-series production facility for hydrogen fuelling stations at its research and development centre in Vienna since last year. Also in Vienna, OMV has been operating Austria's first public hydrogen fuelling station since 2012. Further stations are being planned in partnership with Linde for the greater urban areas of Linz, Munich, Nuremberg and Stuttgart. Having set up approximately 90 hydrogen fuelling stations in 15 countries and having successfully completed over one million refuelling operations, Linde is leading the way in H2 infrastructure development. With several auto manufacturers currently ramping up to series production, Linde is thus laying important groundwork for the successful roll-out of fuel-cell vehicles.

Linde AG Launches Compact Hydrogen Generator Line Called HYDROPRIME

Linde AG launched its new HYDROPRIME(R) plant line of innovative, cost effective hydrogen generators which are based on proven steam methane reforming technology. Hydro-Chem announced that it has tested and proven the reliability and suitability of these units in various applications. The company is now launching the mass production release of HYDROPRIME(R) as a competitive and reliable local production alternative to trucked-in bulk gases. HYDROPRIME(R) plants offer many advantages over traditional supply modes such as truck-delivered liquid hydrogen, electrolytic plants, and conventional steam methane reforming plants. These plants have a capacity of 0.15 - 0.9 MMSCFD (165 - 1,000 Nm3/h) and produce ultra-high purity hydrogen (99.999+ %) at 200 psi (13.8 bar), reducing the need for product compression in most uses. The new product line has a very high natural gas conversion rate and is highly heat integrated, which translates into low operating cost.

Daimler AG Collaborates with Linde and Total to Open Motorway Hydrogen Filling Station

Daimler AG announced that it has collaborated with Linde and Total to open Germany's first motorway hydrogen filling station at a service area in Geiselwind on the A3 between Wurzburg and Nuremberg. The filling station links present filling facilities in the metropolitan regions of Frankfurt/Main, Stuttgart and Munich with each other, forming a hub for electric fuel cell vehicles in southern Germany.
