Littelfuse, Inc. designs, manufactures, and sells circuit protection devices for use in the automotive, electronic, and electrical markets worldwide. It operates in three segments: Electronics, Automotive, and Electrical. The Electronics segment provides fuses and protectors, positive temperature coefficient resettable fuses, varistors, polymer electrostatic discharge suppressors, discrete transient voltage suppression diodes, transient voltage suppression diode arrays and protection thyristors, gas discharge tubes, power switching components and fuseholders, blocks, and related accessories. It markets its products under the PICO II and NANO2 SMF brands to manufacturers of a range of electronic products, including mobile phones, computers, LCD TVs, telecommunications equipment, medical devices, lighting products, and white goods. The Automotive segment provides blade and high current fuses, battery cable protectors, and varistors. It markets its products under the ATO, MINI, MIDI, MEGA, MasterFuse, JCASE, and CablePro brands to the automotive original equipment manufacturers and parts distributors of passenger automobiles, trucks, buses, and off-road equipment; and sells its fuses in the automotive replacement parts market. The Electrical segment offers power fuses and other circuit protection devices for use in commercial and industrial buildings, as well as large equipment, such as HVAC systems, elevators, and machine tools for industrial and commercial customers. The company also provides a line of electromechanical and electronic switch and control devices for commercial and specialty vehicles; and sensors for automobile safety systems, as well as protection relays and power distribution centers for the safe control and distribution of electricity. Littelfuse, Inc. sells its products through distributors, direct sales force, and manufacturers’ representatives. The company was founded in 1927 and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

Four New Series of TVs Diode Arrays from Littelfuse Combine High ESD Protection with Smaller Board Footprints

Littelfuse Inc. has introduced four solutions for general purpose ESD protection TVS Diode Arrays (SPA® Diode) that occupy less board space than similar industry offerings. The SP1013 and SP1014 TVS Diode Arrays fit into a standard 0201 footprint but offer a 30% reduction in the board space required over other 0201 outline solutions, allowing more clearance between components. The SP1020 and SP1021 Series are packaged in the industry’s smallest ESD protection footprint, a 01005 flip chip, while providing nearly 78% lower capacitance than similar market solutions. All four products feature back-to-back zener diodes to protect electronic equipment that may experience destructive electrostatic discharges (ESD). The back-to-back configuration provides symmetrical ESD protection for data or signal lines when AC signals are present. These robust diodes can safely absorb repetitive ESD strikes above the maximum level specified in the IEC61000-4-2 international standard (Level 4, ±8kV contact discharge) without performance degradation.

Littelfuse Inc. Introduces Miniature Four-Channel Bidirectional SP1015 Series TVS Diode Array

Littelfuse Inc. announced that it has introduced the miniature four-channel bidirectional SP1015 Series TVS Diode Array, designed to protect data lines that may experience destructive electrostatic discharge (ESD). These robust diodes can safely absorb repetitive ESD strikes (±20kV contact, ±30kV air) well above the maximum level specified in the IEC61000-4-2 international standard without performance degradation. Their bidirectional configuration provides symmetrical ESD protection for data lines when AC signals are present. With just 0.65 of dynamic resistance, the SP1015 Series supports the low clamping voltage needed to protect the small-geometry integrated circuits used in modern electronic devices. Because the SP1015 Series provides four lines of ESD protection in a compact flip chip package, it is ideal for applications where conserving board space is critical, including micro-SIM interfaces, touchscreen controller lines, and general purpose I/Os on smartphones, wearable devices, tablets, and eReaders. The SP1015 Series draws upon the technology the company developed for the award-winning SP1012 Series TVS Diode Array. Its compact footprint of less than a square millimeter helps circuit designers economize on both printed circuit board space and cost. SP1015 Series TVS Diode Arrays offer these key benefits: Four lines of ESD protection in a 0.93x0.53mm footprint allows placement in close proximity to a micro-SIM (SIM) socket, minimizing both printed circuit board space requirements and costs. Bidirectional configurations, critical for protecting capacitive touch screens up through 6 inch ESD protection beyond the maximum rating in the IEC61000-4-2 standard and superior protection ensures greater design margin and higher end-product reliability in the field. Very low dynamic resistance (0.65) supports the low clamping voltage needed for protecting modern electronics filled with small-geometry ICs. Nominal 5V standoff voltage permits protection of most of the current and future user interfaces. Availability: The SP1015 Series is packaged in a 0.93x0.53mm flip chip package (0402 format) and is provided in tape & reel form in quantities of 5,000.
