littelfuse inc (LFUS) Key Developments

Littelfuse Adds Two Unidirectional SIDAC Switching Thyristors Optimized for Capacitor Discharge Applications

Littelfuse Inc. has introduced two new product series, the Kxxx0S1URP and Kxxx0GURP Series Unidirectional SIDAC Switching Thyristors. A SIDAC (short for Silicon Diode for Alternating Current) is a semiconductor switch used in conjunction with a capacitor and a transformer in capacitor discharge ignition (CDI) circuits for generating high voltage spikes. The Kxxx0S1URP and Kxxx0GURP Series offer lower switching losses than existing high-energy SIDAC and standard SIDAC products. A new SIDAC design provides a higher repetitive pulse current (ITRM) rating at higher ambient temperatures, improved breakover/trigger voltage vs. temperature characteristics, and lower switching loss. This allows existing circuits to support higher voltage outputs, and ensures stable voltage outputs at high ambient temperatures.

Littelfuse, Inc. Introduces Two New Product Series, the SP4044 and SP4045 Series TVS Diode Arrays

Littelfuse Inc. has introduced two new product series, the SP4044 and SP4045 Series TVS Diode Arrays (SPA® Diodes), designed to protect sensitive electronics from destructive electrostatic discharges (ESD) and lightning-induced surge events. Low capacitance diodes are integrated with an additional zener diode to protect each I/O pin against ESD and high surge events. These robust devices offer a benchmark-setting surge protection/capacitance ratio; safely absorbing up to 24A of lightning-induced surges while presenting only 1.5pF per I/O-to-Ground connection. This helps to assure minimal signal degradation. The array can also handle a minimum of ±30kV ESD, so electronics manufacturers can realize greater protection and enhance product reliability in the field. The low loading capacitance also makes the SP4044 and SP4045 Series ideal for protecting high speed signal pins. 'Straight-through' routing allows these components to sit on top of the lines they protect, eliminating stub parasitic capacitance and inductance and ensuring higher signal integrity. Typical applications for the SP4044 and SP4045 Series TVS Diode Arrays include protecting HDBaseT, 2.5 and 5 Gigabit Ethernet, and 10/100/1,000 Ethernet ports, as well as secondary protection for T1/E1, T3/E3, and high-end audio-visual equipment lines. The SP4044 and SP4045 Series TVS Diode Arrays are available in a 10-lead Mini Small Outline Package (MSOP-10) in tape and reel packaging, with a minimum order quantity of 4,000. Sample requests can be placed through authorized Littelfuse distributors worldwide.

Littelfuse, Inc. Introduces the 59022 Series Firecracker Reed Sensor

Littelfuse Inc. has introduced the 59022 Series Firecracker Reed Sensor, a compact, cylindrical, magnetically operated sensor capable of switching up to 265 Vac/300 Vdc at 10 Watt/VA. The new sensor’s diameter of just 5.8 mm (0.228 inches) makes it easy to install into confined spaces in existing structures. It is designed for use with the matching 57022 actuator, which is sold separately. Circuit designers have the flexibility to choose from normally open, normally closed or change-over contacts. Typical applications for the 59022 Series Firecracker Reed Sensor include: Position/limit sensing for door closures in appliances, smart home automation systems, security systems, metering and industrial equipment. Level sensing for liquid level detection in coffee makers, washing machines and dishwashers. Speed and distance measuring/sensing found in fitness equipment such as treadmills and stationary bicycles. Linear actuators. The 59022 Series Firecracker Reed Sensor offers these key benefits: Its 25.4 mm x 5.8 mm form factor fits easily into small, confined spaces. Because it is a magnetically operated proximity sensor, installation is quick and easy. Its hermetically sealed contacts are well suited for use in high-moisture and contaminated environments. Because it can operate through non-ferrous materials (such as wood, plastic or aluminum) it offers a non-contact solution that’s more aesthetically appealing than push button or lever mechanical-type switches. Normally open, normally closed and change-over contacts options are available, which makes it ideal for battery-powered applications because the contacts do not draw power when in the non-activated state. Excellent for switching micro-controller logic level loads. Custom cable length and connector options make it easy to adapt to customers’ specific application requirements.
