littelfuse inc (LFUS) Key Developments

Littelfuse, Inc. Illuminates Innovative Circuit Protection Solutions for LED Lighting Systems at the 2015 Strategies in Light Show

Littelfuse Inc. will showcase cutting-edge circuit protection technology designed for the full LED lighting system from the power input all the way to the LEDs themselves, at the Strategies in Light trade show. Littelfuse representatives will be available to discuss new technologies, trends, and components in Booth 630 at the show, held at The Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, from February 24 to 26, 2015. Exhibits will include a non-functional streetlight disassembled to show booth visitors where and how the company's LSP05 and LSP10 Surge Protection Device (SPD) Modules can be installed in them. A number of driver components will also be on display, including AC fuses, varistors, TVS diodes, DC fuses, PTCs, and PLED protectors. In addition to a diverse portfolio of circuit protection solutions that address a variety of LED applications from indoor and outdoor lighting to devices for LED bulb design, Littelfuse will highlight two unique innovations at the Strategies in Light show: The LSP05 and LSP10 Modules are designed specifically to provide transient overvoltage protection for outdoor and commercial LED lighting fixtures. Constructed with Littelfuse thermally protected metal oxide varistors (TMOVs), the LSP05 (parallel) and LSP10 (series or parallel) Surge Protection Device (SPD) Modules provide robust surge current handling capability. A built-in thermal disconnect function provides additional protection from catastrophic failures and fire hazards, even under the extreme circumstances of varistor end of life or sustained overvoltage conditions. The series-connected LSP10 is the worldâ s first indicating surge arrestor that can handle 20,000 A surges. The NANO2 Subminiature 470 and 476 Fuses provide surge tolerance and protection against overload conditions for downstream components. Their highly compact, surface-mountable (SMT) packages provide for greater design flexibility in space-constrained applications and supports faster placement speed and higher yields during product manufacturing. The 470 Series is the smallest 125VAC-rated SMT fuse available in the Littelfuse portfolio. It has outstanding performance characteristics, including high breaking capacity and unparalleled i2t values. The 476 Series 250VAC-rated fuses are the smallest SMT fuse with this high voltage rating. Both fuses are designed for primary side circuit protection in compact applications with high AC voltage requirements.

Littelfuse, Inc. Introduces 835 Series Fuse

Littelfuse Inc. has introduced the 835 Series Fuse, a time-lag, ceramic body AC fuse. The 835 Series is the first fuse from Littelfuse to combine an unparalleled I 2 t value, a maximum interrupting rating of 1,500A@250Vac, and 1.5kA 8/20µs surge withstand capability in a 5x20mm footprint. Current ratings of 5A, 6.3A and 8A are available. This fuse, packaged in both cartridge and leaded versions, is designed to withstand frequent power surges and protect electronic devices installed in surge-prone environments. The 835 Series meets all the requirements outlined in global IEC 60127-2, Sheet 5 specification for time-lag fuses. It is RoHS compliant and 100% lead free. Typical applications for the 835 Series include overcurrent protection for LED/LCD TVs, digital display systems, and digital signage. All 835 Series Fuses offer these key benefits: higher I 2 t and 1.5kA surge withstand capability reduces nuisance opening of fuses, improving the reliability of electronic devices; 5x22mm compact footprint saves space on the printed circuit board; and operating temperature range from -55°C to 125°C ensures robust performance and reliable protection in extreme temperature environments. The 835 Series is available in quantities of 1,000 packaged in bulk.

Littelfuse, Inc. Introduces SP1255P Series ESD Protection TVS Diode Arrays

Littelfuse Inc. has introduced the SP1255P Series Low Capacitance ESD Protection TVS Diode Arrays, or SPA Diodes, which are designed to provide ESD protection for current-intensive applications, such as fast-charging peripherals or PoweredUSB. The SP1255P Series integrates three channels of ultra-low capacitance steering diodes with a low voltage TVS diode to provide maximum ESD protection of the USB data and ID pins per the IEC 61000-4-2 standard. With a dynamic resistance of just 0.3, they provide clamping voltages up to 23% lower than similar silicon solutions. A high surge current protection device with a working voltage of 12V is allocated for Vbus protection, this device protects against lightning level fast transients of up to 100A on the USB Vbus line. Typical applications for the SP1255P Series include ESD protection for smartphones, tablets, and other portable electronics.
