Kyocera Corporation Unveils New URBANO V02 Smartphone for Japanese Market

Kyocera Corporation has unveiled the URBANO V02 for the Japanese market, a new smartphone featuring an 8.2mm profile. In addition to resistance against shock, water and dust, URBANO V02 features vibration resistance as well as temperature durability (high /low temperatures) and is certified to the US Military Standard (MIL-STD-810G), thus supporting use in various environments. Furthermore, it is equipped with applications which enable easy operation for users switching to smartphones for the first time. The handset also features Kyocera's proprietary Smart Sonic Receiver tuned for KDDI's 'au VoLTE' next-generation voice calling service, which clearly transmits sound even in noisy environments. The product is available in three colors: Mocha Black, Deep Green and Twinkle Pink. The product ensures durability including resistance against accidental drops and water, allows easy operation for first-time smartphone users and features a slim, durable and stylish metal body. In addition to resistance against shock, water and dust featured in the previous model, URBANO V02 offers vibration resistance and temperature durability (high /low temperatures), thus enabling safe use in vibrating environments such as on bicycles and motorbikes as well as varying temperatures during trips to other regions. The display utilizes scratch-resistant, high-strength Dragontrail X glass and realizes additional protection by applying a structure in which the display is slightly recessed, thus enhancing durability against accidental drops. It also allows easy operation for first-time smartphone users such as: Smart Sonic Receiver, Easy-to-use home screen app and App for displaying a key design similar to feature phones. The handset is equipped with Kyocera's proprietary technology in which the whole display vibrates to transmit sound from the other party using both sound waves and vibrations. This enables users to hear the smartphone clearly no matter where their ear is placed on the screen. Furthermore, by pressing the whole screen against the ear to create a cover, it is easier to hear in crowded and noisy environments. The Entry Home app enables intuitive operation for first-time smartphone users with its simple home screen. The handset is equipped with an app which displays a key design similar to conventional feature phones, thus allowing users to input characters based on a familiar key arrangement.
