Kemira Oyj operates as a chemical company in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and the Asia Pacific. The company operates in three segments: Paper, the Oil & Mining, and the Municipal & Industrial. The Paper segment provides retention, sizing, strength, surface treatment, coating, and process chemicals; and bleaching and pulping chemicals. Its products are used in pulp, paper, board, and tissue production, as well as pulping, bleaching, wet-end and coating chemistry, and water treatment applications. This segment sells its products directly to pulp and paper producers. The Oil & Mining segment offers polymers, dispersants and antiscalants, biocides, emulsifiers, and defoamers, as well as dry and emulsion polyacrylamides and related process chemicals. This segment’s products are used in drilling and cementing, stimulation, oil sands, and chemically enhanced oil recovery and production, as well as iron ore, copper, gold recovery, and white pigments mining applications. It offers its products directly to pumpers, operators and service companies, and mining operators, as well as other industries through distributors. The Municipal & Industrial segment primarily provides water treatment chemicals and commodity products comprising aluminum and iron-based coagulants. This segment’s products are used for raw and waste water, as well as sludge treatment applications. It offers its products to municipal and industrial customers through direct sales and distributors. Kemira Oyj was founded in 1920 and is headquartered in Helsinki, Finland.

Kemira Oyj Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2015; Revises Earnings Guidance for the Year 2015 and Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2017

Kemira Oyj reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported that revenue increased 15% to EUR 594.8 million compared EUR 518.2 million a year ago, supported by the acquisition of AkzoNobel's paper chemicals business, completed on May 4, and favorable currency exchange rates. Operative EBITDA, excluding non-recurring items increased 24% to EUR 74.7 million compared to EUR 60.2 million a year ago. EBITDA was EUR 66.1 million compared EUR 34.9 million a year ago. Profit before tax was EUR 25.1 million compared EUR 1.5 million a year ago. Capital expenditure was EUR 159.3 million compared EUR 34.0 million a year ago. Operating profit (EBIT) was EUR 34.3 million against EUR 10.0 million a year ago. Net profit attributable to the equity owners of the parent was EUR 17.6 million against EUR 0.2 million a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share were EUR 0.12 against EUR 0.00 a year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was EUR 11.7 million against net cash used in operating activities of EUR 2.9 million a year ago. Other capital expenditure was EUR 44.3 million against EUR 34.0 million a year ago. Capital expenditure was EUR 159.3 million against EUR 34.0 million a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share were EUR 0.28 against EUR 0.28 a year ago. Net cash generated from operating activities was EUR 54.1 million against EUR 10.2 million a year ago.
