Kraton Performance Polymers, Inc. produces and sells styrenic block copolymers (SBCs) and other engineered polymers in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific. It offers performance products comprising unhydrogenated SBCs, which are primarily used in paving, roofing, packaging and industrial adhesives, industrial, and other applications; and specialty polymers consisting of hydrogenated SBCs that are used in lubricant additives, polymer modification, personal care, cable gels, and adhesives and coatings, as well as in medical, industrial, consumer, and other applications. The company’s products are also used in personal care products, such as disposable diapers and the rubberized grips of toothbrushes, razor blades, and power tools. It also provides isoprene rubber products that have applications in medical products, paints, coatings, and specialized footwear; and isoprene rubber latex products primarily for use in synthetic surgical gloves and condoms, as well as in medical, healthcare, personal care, and food contact operations. In addition, the company is involved in the development and commercialization of polyvinyl chloride alternatives for wire, cable, and medical applications; polymers and compounds for soft skin and coated fabric applications for transportation and consumer markets; highly-modified asphalt for paving applications; membrane polymers for use in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and breathable fabrics; and synthetic cement formulations and polymers that are used in oilfield applications. Kraton Performance Polymers, Inc. markets its products through various channels, including direct sales force, marketing representatives, and distributors under the Kraton, Elexar, Giving Innovators Their Edge, NEXAR, and Cariflex brands. The company was formerly known as Polymer Holdings LLC and changed its name to Kraton Performance Polymers, Inc. in December 2009. Kraton Performance Polymers, Inc. is based in Houston, Texas.

(NYSE:KRA) is seeking acquisitions. “Kraton Performance Polymers Inc. is Bain & Co. on a strategy to reorganize the company,” according to people with knowledge of the matter. “As part of the overhaul, Chief Executive Officer Kevin Fogarty plans to make additional savings beyond an $18 million target already announced,” said the people, who asked not to be identified because the matter is private. Representatives for Houston, Texas-based Kraton and Bain declined to comment. Kevin Fogarty, Chief Executive Officer of Kraton Performance Polymers, is also seeking to update the product portfolio, boost growth and identify potential acquisition targets, plans to provide details of his strategic plan to investors mid-year.

For the quarter, the company’s revenue was $276,039,000 compared to $290,362,000 for the same period a year ago. Loss before income taxes was $16,068,000 compared to $3,535,000 for the same period a year ago. Consolidated net loss was $17,781,000 compared to consolidated net income of $4,724,000 for the same period a year ago.
