Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Announces Testing of its Big Red Genetically Engineered Spider Silk

Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. announced that the company received its fiber testing equipment, including customized components, to test its new genetically engineered prototype fiber, Big Red(TM). The company announced that it created Big Red(TM), a new genetically engineered silk fiber, last fall, by using spider silk gene sequences. Preliminary testing indicated that Big Red(TM) might have properties of strength and flexibility that could have potential commercial applications. The company ordered testing equipment to verify the preliminary results and, after taking delivery, had the equipment customized to account for the unique nature of recombinant spider silk based fibers. The company intends to use the testing equipment to increase the laboratory's research and development effectiveness by providing researchers with more rapid feedback on the results of their work.
