Archos to Unveil Tablets for French Secondary Schools

Archos announced that it will unveil in early 2015 a new range of tablets aimed at the French education market for release before the 2015-2016 academic year. Archos's new products will support Android and Windows, will be able to operate for over 8 hours without recharging, and will feature a keyboard, shock-resistant case and extended memory.

Archos to Launch Virtual Reality Headset

Archos is preparing to launch a virtual reality headset. Their solution, the Archos VR Glasses, is a bring-your-own-screen headset that'll accept smartphones with screen sizes up to six inches. Built of robust and lightweight materials, the Archos VR Glasses will be compatible with phones running Android, iOS and Windows Phones. All virtual reality apps (more than 100 as of writing, we're told) will work with the wearable. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Archos' solution is the price. The headset will start at just $29.99. The company points out that they are also working on a Bluetooth controller for gaming purposes but didn't disclose any more information on it.

Archos Reports Revenue Results for the Nine Months of 2014

Archos reported revenue results for the nine months of 2014. For the nine months, revenue down 3% to EUR 84 million, including EUR 4.8 million contributed by Logic Instrument, compared with GBP 86.3 million in the first nine months of 2013. The company attributed the decrease mainly to delivery delays in the last weeks of September due to an Air France pilot's strike and to reduced activity in France during the summer.
