Its Building Efficiency segment designs, produces, markets, and installs integrated heating, ventilating, and air conditioning systems, as well as building management systems, controls, and security and mechanical equipment. This segment also provides technical services, energy management consulting, and operations of real estate portfolios for the non-residential buildings market. In addition, this segment offers residential air conditioning and heating systems, and industrial refrigeration products. The company’s Automotive Experience segment designs and manufactures interior products and systems for passenger cars and light trucks, including vans, pick-up trucks, and sport/crossover utility vehicles serving original equipment manufacturers. This segment offers automotive seat metal structures and mechanisms, foam, trim, fabric, and seat systems; and instrument panels, floor consoles, and door panels, as well as cockpits. The company’s Power Solutions segment produces lead-acid automotive batteries for passenger car, light truck, and utility vehicles, as well as offers advanced battery technologies to power Start-Stop, hybrid, and electric vehicles. It serves automotive original equipment manufacturers and the general vehicle battery aftermarket. The company was formerly known as Johnson Electric Service Company and changed its name to Johnson Controls, Inc. in 1974. Johnson Controls, Inc. was founded in 1885 and is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Johnson Controls Inc. Plans to Build New $40 Million Natural Gas Power Plant at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland

A new $40 million natural gas power plant to be built by Johnson Controls Inc. at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland is expected to save the U.S. Army $113 million over 19 years. The Army facility northeast of Baltimore broke ground on the project. Johnson Controls is building the cogeneration plant and will get paid over time through savings the Army realizes through reduced energy costs.

Johnson Controls Inc. Announces Quarterly Dividend, Payable on July 2, 2015

The board of directors of Johnson Controls has authorized a regular quarterly cash dividend of $0.26 per common share. The dividend is payable on July 2, 2015 to shareholders of record as of the close of business on June 5, 2015.

Johnson Controls Venture with Hitachi Appliances Gains Approval

A joint venture pairing Johnson Controls Inc. and Hitachi Appliances to produce and sell commercial air conditioning equipment around the world has received clearance from the fair trade regulatory agency in India. The Competition Commission of India approved the joint venture, projected to generate $2.6 billion in sales for the partners in 2016. Johnson Controls will own 60% of the venture and Hitachi will own the remaining 40%, per terms of the agreement signed in January 2015. Through the joint venture, Johnson Controls will gain access to distribution networks in China and Japan. Hitachi will open new distribution channels for its equipment in North America.
