International Ferro Metals Limited Announces Consolidated Earnings and Production Results for the Half Year Ended December 31, 2014; Revises Production Guidance for the Fiscal Year 2015 and Provides Capital Expenditure Guidance for the Second Half of Fiscal 2015

International Ferro Metals Limited announced consolidated earnings and production results for the half year ended December 31, 2014. For the period, FeCr production was 98,016 tonnes against 116,469 tonnes a year ago. Sales volumes were 101,700 tonnes against 109,623 tonnes a year ago. The increase was a result of ZAR 66 million generated from ore sales during the period compared to ZAR 14 million in the comparative period. For the period, the company reported sales revenue of ZAR 1,021,576,000 against ZAR 1,002,923,000 a year ago. Net loss before interest and tax was ZAR 175,602,000 against net profit before interest and tax of ZAR 30,984,000 a year ago. Net loss before tax was ZAR 175,602,000 against net profit before tax of ZAR 30,984,000 a year ago. Net loss attributable to owners of the company was ZAR 174,786,000 against profit of ZAR 32,747,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted loss per share was ZAR 31.55 against earnings per share of ZAR 5.91 a year ago. Net cash flows utilized in operating activities were ZAR 13,374,000 against net cash flows from operating activities of ZAR 24,278,000 a year ago. Payments for property, plant and equipment was ZAR 10,862,000 against ZAR 11,677,000 a year ago. LBITDA was ZAR 92,973,000 against EBITDA of ZAR 111,640,000 a year ago. The loss was mainly as a result of higher production costs and lower production volumes during the period. The loss was further increased by an impairment of ZAR 26 million recognized on property, plant and equipment, a net realisable value adjustment of ZAR 9 million on obsolete consumable stocks, a price adjustment of ZAR 26 million on price-sensitive sales as at 31 December 2014, and an estimated ZAR 30 million on the silicon carbide trials. The loss attributable to the DMR stoppage in November is still being assessed. Net borrowings increased from ZAR 358 million at 30 June, 2014 to ZAR 451 million at December 31, 2014. The increase of ZAR 113 million over the period is attributable to operations utilizing ZAR 60 million, working capital generating ZAR 47 million, investing activities utilizing ZAR 69 million, which includes capital expenditure through the period of ZAR 58 million and investing activities of ZAR 11 million. For fiscal 2015, the company reduces its production guidance for the year to between 200,000 tonnes and 205,000 tonnes of ferrochrome. The capital expenditure for the second half of fiscal 2015 is expected to be around ZAR 20 million.
