Inmarsat Appoints MVS USA as Value Added Reseller for Global Xpress in the Maritime Market

Inmarsat has appointed MVS USA as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Global Xpress in the maritime market. The company will sell the FleetBroadband Xtra and Fleet Xpress products, which leverage the high throughput Ka-band constellation. MVS' representative office in Cyprus has Inmarsat's GX service on-boarded, and intends to launch a similar demo site at its New York area showroom later this year. The companies are planning the first beta-testing project with a ship-owner operating in the Mediterranean Sea.

Inmarsat plc Launches its First Vehicular Antenna for the IsatPhone 2

Inmarsat plc has launched its first vehicular antenna for the IsatPhone 2. Designed by AeroAntenna Technologies, the new external, vehicle-mounted, active antenna enables IsatPhone 2 users to enjoy uninterrupted voice connectivity while on-the-move. Vehicular antennas provide 'line-of-sight' to a satellite while a user is travelling in a vehicle, enabling them maintain connectivity and continue using their satellite phone. The new antenna kit will be particularly beneficial for organizations with teams travelling in remote locations, for whom staying in contact while on the move is essential to their work and their safety. It is anticipated that the new vehicular antenna kit will be of major benefit to NGOs with teams scattered across some of the most remote regions in the world, as well as for oil and gas, mining, utilities, construction and fleet transportation organizations with personnel in-the-field. The omni-directional antenna features a sleek design and has an ultraflex cable for easy installation, a suction-mount clip for hands-free communication, and a dual USB charger that allows the antenna to be in use while also charging the IsatPhone 2.

Inmarsat Plc Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015; Provides Capex Guidance for the Year 2015, 2016 and 2017

Inmarsat Plc reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported revenues of $304.8 million against $344.7 million a year ago. EBITDA was $176.8 million against $209.9 million a year ago. Operating profit was $111.3 million against $141.7 million a year ago. Profit before income tax was $96.3 million against $126.3 million a year ago. Profit attributable to equity holders was $77.3 million or $0.17 per basic and diluted share against $100.1 million or $0.22 per basic and diluted share a year ago. Net cash from operating activities was $216.6 million against $145.8 million a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was $69.9 million against $82.6 million a year ago. Additions to capitalized development costs and other intangibles was $6.4 million against $4.6 million a year ago. Total capital expenditures were $120.3 million against $105.3 million a year ago. Adjusted earnings attributable to equity holders of the company were $63.3 million or $0.14 per basic and diluted share against $65.4 million or $0.14 per diluted share a year ago. CapEx in the quarter was $7 million lower than last year at $88.7 million, reflecting mainly the timing of its GX and S-band investments. As on March 31, 2015, the company's net debt was $1.75 billion.   For the full year of 2015, the company's capex is expected to be in the range $450 million to $500 million. The company's capex in both 2016 and 2017 is expected to be below $400 million.
