The MIDI segment provides products and services, which include Internet, high-speed point-to-point international and domestic digital leased line broadband and narrowband services, packet-switching service, and satellite transponder leasing, and broadcasting services. The company was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia. PT Indosat Tbk is a subsidiary of Ooredoo Asia Pte. Ltd.

PT Indosat Tbk Announces Management Changes

Ooredoo Q.S.C. has announced that its subsidiary, PT Indosat Tbk, has approved a number of changes to its Boards of Commissioners and Independent Directors, following an Extraordinary General Meeting held on 28 January 2015. The changes come following the appointment of a number of board members to ministerial and other senior positions in Indonesia, and the appointment of H.E Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Thani as CEO at the Qatar Investment Authority. As part of the changes, H.E Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al-Thani has resigned from the role of President Commissioner of Indosat. In addition, Rachmad Gobel has resigned as the company's Commissioner, due to his appointment as the Minister of Trade, Republic of Indonesia, and Mr. Rudiantara has resigned as the company's Independent Commissioner, following his appointment as Minister of Communication and Information, Republic of Indonesia. The company also announced the resignation of Rionald Silaban as Commissioner, following his appointment as Executive Director at the World Bank Group. Moving ahead, the company has announced a new Board of Commissioners who will be in place until the 2016 AGM, in accordance with the Articles of Association of the company. Dr. Nasser Marafih will take on the role of President Commissioner, while Ahmed Yousef Al-Derbesti, Khalid Ibrahim Al-Mahmoud, Chris Kanter, Astera Primanto Bhakti, Beny Roelyawan, and Cynthia Gordon all take on the role of Commissioner. Richard Seney, Rinaldi Firmansyah, and Wijayanto Samirin, have been named Independent Commissioners. The company has also approved changes in the composition of the company's Board of Directors. Moving forward, the Board will be Alexander Rusli, President Director; Curt Stefan Carlsson, Director; Fadzri Sentosa, Director; Joy Wahjudi, Director (and will also assume the role of Independent Director)and John Thompson, Director.

Indosat Launches 4G LTE Service on 900 MHz

Indosat has commercially launched 4G LTE services. Indosat's 4G network on 900 MHz will initially be available in Jakarta, and will be expanded to Yogyakarta and Bali at the end of January 2015.

Indosat Launches Super 4G LTE Service in Indonesia

Indosat has launched a LTE service dubbed 'Super 4G-LTE'. Subscribers will have access to speeds of up to 185 Mbps. The launch marks the completion of Indosat's network modernization project in 23 cities across Indonesia. Ooredoo already provides 4G LTE services in Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and the Maldives.
