Intel Corp. to Lay Off 152 Employees at its Folsom Campus

Intel Corp. plans to lay off 152 employees at its Folsom campus by July 15, 2015. The cutbacks were outlined in a standard 'WARN Act letter' that Intel sent to the state Employment Development Department, dated June 11, 2015. The proposed job cuts would represent a staff reduction of about 2.5%. The Intel letter said the company is 'providing a variety of pay and benefits to the affected employees, including two months' pay, career transition assistance and a minimum of four months of Intel-paid COBRA (health care) premiums'. The letter said additional payment based on years of service also will be offered. The letter to EDD noted that the affected employees 'do not have the right to displace or bump any other Intel employee, and they will not be recalled to work. None of the employees are represented by a union'. Positions earmarked for layoffs in the letter to EDD run the gamut, from data analysts to system programmers. The large position cuts listed are 16 graphics hardware engineers and 10 component design engineers. Intel also posted notice of 165 proposed layoffs in Santa Clara, its headquarters.
