IHS Nigeria plc, a mobile infrastructure company, provides mobile telecommunications infrastructure services in Nigeria, Sudan, Ghana, and the United Arab Emirates. It is involved in turnkey infrastructure deployment, infrastructure managed services, and infrastructure sharing and leasing activities. The company also provides collocation services, as well as various tower sharing options, including build-to-suit, buy-lease-back, and manage with license to lease services. Its infrastructure deployment services include telecommunications network construction consisting of site acquisition and design; equipment supply; civil, electromechanical, and telecommunications installation; integration; testing; and handover. The company’s infrastructure managed services comprise field maintenance, project management, network and operations quality control, and process development and implementation, as well as network planning, implementation, and optimization services. In addition, it sells telecom equipment. As of July 24, 2013, IHS Nigeria plc had 8,500 towers in its tower portfolio. The company was founded in 2001 and is based in Lagos, Nigeria. IHS Nigeria plc operates as a subsidiary of UBC Services Inc.

MTN Reportedly In Talks With IHS To Sell Its Towers

MTN Group Limited (JSE:MTN) is reportedly in talks with IHS Nigeria Plc to sell its South African towers in a deal valued at $2 billion. Talks with buyers may lead to a joint venture in which MTN would retain a large stake. MTN reportedly favors a deal with IHS, a transaction has not been agreed and might not take place.

IHS Towers Appoints Oyinlola as New Global Head of Human Resources

IHS Towers (IHS) announced the appointment of Ayotade Oyinlola as the new Global Head of Human Resources. He will be responsible for overseeing the management of IHS's expanding talent pool, reporting directly to the CEO. Nigeria-born and raised, Ayotade brings over 20 years of combined HR and telecoms industry experience. Ayotade most recently served as Millicom Services UK's Head of HR for Africa and Europe, overseeing operations throughout Africa as well as the corporate offices in London, Luxembourg and Sweden. He has focused on driving international and African talent acquisition and development at various executive and operational levels.

Telkom Reportedly Considering Sale Of Tower Network

Telkom SA SOC Limited (JSE:TKG) is considering to sell a local network of telephone towers to operators including IHS Nigeria Plc (NGSE:IHS) and Helios Towers DRC. TELKOM is considering a sale of a local network of telephone towers, according to people with knowledge of the matter. A potential sale might fetch $500 million to $1 billion, with bids due as early as next week, said one of the people, who asked not to be identified as the information was private. Telkom was working with Accenture on the sale, which might attract tower operators such as IHS Nigeria Plc and Helios Towers DRC, the people said. No final decision had been made and talks might still falter, they said. Representatives for Accenture and Helios declined to comment. A representative for IHS Holding of Nigeria did not return calls and e-mails seeking comment.
