Indra Sistemas, S.A. Wins Contract to Implement Traffic Monitoring System in Kuwait City

Indra Sistemas, S.A. announced that it has received a contract worth EUR 16.3 million from the Kuwait Municipality to implement a traffic monitoring system in Kuwait City that will allow for gathering, processing, analyzing and presenting data to facilitate mobility management in the Kuwaiti capital. This contract strengthen the company's position in the Middle East and is a new step forward for the company in Kuwait, a country which plans to invest $1 billion in its Infrastructure Development Plan with projects involving roads, ports, the railway which will connect with other countries of the Persian Gulf, and the Kuwaiti metro. The company has already equipped the Kuwait City Airport with its air traffic management technology. The new project for the capital consists of equipping and supplying the technology necessary for the traffic management center, installing over 200 permanent traffic sensors, and gathering and integrating data from about 3,000 locations throughout the city within the new monitoring system. The main change is the planned integration of different technologies for detecting vehicles, with radar systems, loops, video cameras and weighing systems. All of these systems communicate with the Traffic Data Center of the Kuwaiti municipality thanks to an advanced traffic data management system, also implemented by the company, which will, in turn, make these, available to different public bodies responsible for the city's traffic and mobility, or for those which may be affected, such as maintenance teams, emergency services, police, etc. It will also provide citizens with information to help them choose their routes. By providing all actors involved in mobility with data and facilitating decision-making, The company technology will contribute toward improving the city's mobility management, increasing security and operations both in day-to-day management as well as in emergency situations. Through this project Kuwait City joins others like London, Madrid, Dublin, Medellin, Curitiba or Manila, to name a few, which have confided in the company solutions to improve their urban mobility. Cities can progress toward a more efficient and sustainable mobility using this technology. This contributes to cutting traffic jams as well as their costs, minimizing carbon emissions and promoting (intermodal) integrated urban transport services. In addition, smart mobility is a major step in advancing toward the smart city model. In addition to the projects in Kuwait for modernizing the automated air traffic management systems of the control center and tower of the Kuwait City Airport and for implementing an advanced controller-pilot digital communications system, the company has important projects in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan or Bahrain.

ROMATSA Selects Indra Sistemas SA to Supply Radars to Monitor the Air Movements in the Country's Main Airport and Two Other International Airports

ROMATSA has selected Indra Sistemas SA to supply radars to monitor the air movements in the country's main airport, Henri Coanda in Bucarest, and two other international airports, Cluj-Napoca and Bacau. The company will set up a station near the airport in the capital that will be equipped with a primary and secondary radar. This system's accuracy and security will make it possible to reduce the separation between aircrafts, thereby increasing the capacity of the Bucharest airport. Indra will also equip the international airports of Cluj and Bacau with secondary radars, which will incorporate the latest technology in aircraft identification (S mode), thereby raising safety levels and agility in traffic control. This contract has been awarded after ROMATSA entrusted the company with an ambitious project that includes the modernization of the control center of the Bucharest route and four other approach centers. This project also sees the renewal of air traffic management systems in a total of 15 air traffic control towers. Indra will equip these installations with systems incorporating the latest developments in traffic management by trajectory-based 4D, interoperability and conflict prediction. All these improvements will facilitate the air traffic controllers' work, by relieving them of repetitive tasks and allowing them to concentrate on tactical planning. This will help traffic flow move more easily and orderly by being able to solve a number of problems before they even happen. Such improvements will also comply with the requirements set by the SESAR JU consortium, which is responsible for the implementation of the Single European Sky (SES). Consequently, ROMATSA will be considered one of the most advanced providers of European air navigation and will be able to offer airlines a more efficient and flexible air traffic management.

Indra Sistemas SA Launches B-Drop

Indra Sistemas SA has launched B-Drop, an app developed by the company to promote the adoption of responsible habits in daily use of water. B-Drop allows users to monitor the saving accumulated in real time due to the use of a bag designed specifically for collecting, saving and carrying cold water that used to be wasted while waiting for hot water to come out. The application also includes a series of practical tips to optimize consumption. B-Drop will allow users to register their daily consumption for an approximate period of one month. Once this time has passed, individual results will be collected and research will be performed to analyze the participants' degree of implication, trends and habits and to quantify global savings. The solution is supported by the use of a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) bag designed and patented by the Valencia company Esferic Better Things. According to estimates by its management, 3 to 6 liters of water are wasted during every shower so, if all Spaniards used this bag, over 40,000 million liters of water could be saved a year. B-Drop is the axis of the initiative and allows the water accumulated each time the bag is used to be recorded and so can exactly track the liters saved. There are three sections: personal saving and statistics, ranking and, lastly, tips for saving and links of interest.
