The company’s Software segment provides middleware and operating systems software, including WebSphere software to integrate and manage business processes; and information management software that enables clients to integrate, manage, and analyze data from various sources. It also offers Watson Solutions software to interact in natural language, process big data, and learn from interactions with people and computers; Tivoli software offers integrated service delivery for cloud and datacenter management, enterprise endpoint and mobile device management, asset and facilities management, and storage management; and Workforce Solutions software that enables businesses to connect people and processes. In addition, this segment provides Rational software that supports software development; and Mobile software for application development, mobile security, and mobile device management. Its Systems and Technology segment offers infrastructure technologies; and semiconductor technology, products, and packaging solutions. The company’s Global Financing segment provides lease and loan financing; commercial financing to dealers and remarketers; and remanufacturing and remarketing services. The company was formerly known as Computing-Tabulating-Recording Co. and changed its name to International Business Machines Corporation in 1924. The company was founded in 1910 and is headquartered in Armonk, New York.

International Business Machines Corporation and Medtronic plc Partner to Develop Next Generation Diabetes Management Solutions

International Business Machines Corporation and Medtronic plc have partnered to develop next generation diabetes management solutions by combining analytics and cognitive computing with diabetes medical devices and health data. People using Medtronic diabetes solutions could benefit from new solutions developed in collaboration with IBM's newly-formed Watson Health unit. IBM and Medtronic are exploring ways to develop diabetes care management solutions that will optimize patient outcomes and health economics, leveraging Medtronic's devices and care management offerings, including therapies and coaching, and IBM's Watson Health Cloud platform. In addition, the two companies also expect to develop near real-time, dynamic care plans that provide decision support for health care providers and their patients with the goal of improving care efficiency and outcomes. IBM and Medtronic will also jointly explore ways to leverage IBM's Watson platform to improve Medtronic and partners' closed loop algorithms, which intend to mimic the function of a healthy pancreas.

US Army Selects IBM Hybrid Cloud to Power Logistics System

International Business Machines Corporation, or IBM, has announced that the US Army has selected IBM Hybrid Cloud to power a logistics system in the US federal government. The new hybrid cloud system is designed to connect the IBM Cloud to the Army's on-premise environment to enable broad use of data analytics for sharper insights and result in improved performance, enterprise scale, better security, and greater reliability all IBM hallmarks. The IBM Cloud Managed Services for Government-Department of Defense (CMS for Defense) is located at the Allegany Ballistics Laboratory (ABL) in West Virginia, which is owned by the Department of the Navy.

International Business Machines Corporation Announces Collaboration with Care.Com

International Business Machines Corporation has announced its collaboration with Care.com. Working with IBM Commerce, Care.com increases customer loyalty and engagement via behavior-driven, automated marketing interactions that are personalized and relevant to each individual. With a small internal CRM marketing team and more than 13 million users, spanning from providers and seekers of child, senior, pet, and home care, Care.com wanted to improve their email marketing communications, but needed support personalizing and customizing their messages. The Care.com team turned to the IBM Commerce Silverpop tool to target and individualize communications and improve customer loyalty through an engaging customer experience.
