iberdrola sa (IBE) Key Developments

CFE, Iberdrola Sign Natural Gas Supply Deal

CFE and Iberdrola have signed agreements regarding natural gas supply, hydroelectric development and the purchase of electricity. The first of the three agreements establishes CFE as Iberdrola's preferred natural gas supplier for its existing and future electricity generation projects. The second agreement aims to increase the two companies' mutual exchange of know-how and best practices in hydroelectric pumping, as the CFE studies the possibility of developing such a project in Mexico. As well as generating electricity, hydroelectric pumping can accumulate water to be stored and reused to generate more energy in the future. As part of the agreement, CFE technicians will visit Iberdrola's hydroelectric pumping plants in Spain. The third agreement will study an increase in CFE's supply of natural gas to the Tamazunchale II combined cycle plant, operated by Iberdrola and located in the northern state of San Luis Potosí. CFE is also analyzing the purchase of surplus electricity generated by the plant, as well as developing additional transmission infrastructure for the plant.
