Iberdrola, S.A., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the generation, transmission, distribution, supply, wholesale, and retail of electricity and natural gas in Spain, the United Kingdom, North America, Brazil, and internationally. It operates through Network Business, Deregulated Business, Renewables Business, and Other Businesses segments. The company produces electricity from onshore and offshore wind, marine energy, and other renewable sources; and through hydroelectric, nuclear, coal, gas combined cycle, and cogeneration facilities. It also provides project management, engineering, supply, construction and commissioning, turnkey project, and operational support services. The company’s portfolio of projects includes homes, offices, factory premises, and shopping centers. In addition, it operates, supervises, monitors, and manages telecommunications infrastructure comprising fiber optic and power line communications, plesiochronous digital hierarchy, synchronous digital hierarchy, dense wavelength division multiplexing, switchboards, and radio, as well as data-switching; and rents fiber-optic network to telecommunications operators and other customers. Further, the company engages in data management, marketing, real estate, material merchandising, finance, insurance, and gas trading and storage businesses. It sells energy products primarily to Federal Electricity Commission, as well as supplies directly to industrial companies and self-service store chains. The company is headquartered in Bilbao, Spain.

Iberdrola SA reported earnings results for the first six months ended June 30, 2015. For the period, the company reported net profit attributable to the parent was EUR 1.5 billion, or EUR 0.238 per diluted share, compared to EUR 1.4 billion, or EUR 0.216 per diluted share, for the same period ended June 30, 2014. Net revenue for the first six months ended June 30, 2015 was EUR 16.12 billion, compared to EUR 15.18 billion for the same period ended June 30, 2014. Operating profit for the first six months ended June 30, 2015 was EUR 2.17 billion, compared to EUR 2.2 billion for the same period ended June 30, 2014. Profit before tax for the first six months ended June 30, 2015 was EUR 1.75 billion, compared to EUR 2 billion for the same period ended June 30, 2014.

Iberdrola May Acquire Stake In Eletrobras Subsidiaries

Iberdrola, S.A. (CATS:IBE) will analyze whether to acquire distribution stakes belonging to Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A. - Eletrobras (BOVESPA:ELET6), Iberdrola said on July 22, 2015. Centrais Elétricas Brasileiras S.A. - Eletrobras (BOVESPA:ELET6) has confirmed it will privatize Goi ¡s state utility Celg Distribuição S.A. and is also reportedly seeking buyers for distribution subsidiaries in Alagoas, Piauí, Rondônia, Acre, Amazonas and Roraima. During an investor webcast on Wednesday, Iberdrola CEO Ignacio Gal án said he planned to discuss the issue at board level. "I haven't had time to discuss it with my colleagues to see which companies will be privatized, but we will look at it," Gal A¡n said. "We have to see if it fits with our areas and what the conditions are. We will analyze it," Gal A¡n said.
