Repower Signs Agreements with General Electric, Iberdrola for Power Plant in Germany

Repower has signed agreements with Iberdrola and General Electric for the construction of the Swiss company`s combined cycle power plant in Leverkusen, western Germany. No financial terms were disclosed. The agreements were signed at the end of 2014, after General Electric and Iberdrola were selected as preferred bidders in the spring. A final decision on the construction is expected to be taken throughout 2015. The plant is expected to have a capacity of more than 570 megawatts and to generate power for around 600,000 households. General Electric will supply its 9HA gas turbine, which has efficiency of more than 61% in combined cycle, as well as long-term maintenance services for the gas and steam turbines. Iberdrola will be the engineering, procurement and construction contractor.

EU's OHIM Gives EUR 5.8 Million Contracts for Power, Gas Supply to Iberdrola

European Union (EU) Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM), has awarded two contracts, with combined value of EUR 5.8 million, for supply of electricity and gas in OHIM buildings to Iberdrola Clientes SA and Gas Natural Comercializadora SA. The contract with Iberdrola Clientes, a unit of Spanish power utility Iberdrola, foresees power supply for EUR 4.8 million. The deal with Gas Natural Comercializadora is for natural gas supply and it is worth EUR 1 million. The values exclude VAT. The contracts' initial duration will be one year, which may be renewed by tacit agreement for three consecutive one-year periods, except for the building located at Avenida Jean Claude Combaldieu, 5, in Alicante. The contract's total duration may not exceed four years.

Iberdrola, S.A. Wins Contract to Supply Electricity to the Entire Network of BBVA Offices and Buildings in 2015 and 2016

Iberdrola, S.A. has been awarded the contract to supply electricity to the entire network of BBVA offices and buildings in 2015 and 2016. The total combined consumption for these premises amounts to 240 gigawatt hours (GWh). It has also entered a commitment with BBVA that 100% of the energy supplied will be from renewable sources. In this regard, IBERDROLA plans to supply the electricity to BBVA in compliance with the requirements laid down in the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade's Order ITC/1522/2007, of 24 May, which provides the regulations for guaranteeing the origin of electricity obtained from renewable energy sources and high-efficiency cogeneration. Under the terms of the agreement, IBERDROLA will be in charge of supplying electricity to a total of 3,091 offices and 71 buildings belonging to the financial institution, including its new corporate headquarters (La Vela), on which construction work will be completed this year. By signing this contract, BBVA will be avoiding the annual emission of some 180,000 tonnes of CO2. This figure is equivalent, for example, to the annual emissions produced by 75,000 vehicles or a typical Spanish city with 50,000 inhabitants, or to planting about 4.5 million trees. In turn, IBERDROLA is ratifying its historical commitment to clean energies and more broadly, to sustainable development and combating climate change.
