Iberdrola, S.A., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the generation, transmission, distribution, supply, wholesale, and retail of electricity and natural gas in Spain, the United Kingdom, North America, Brazil, and internationally. It operates through Network Business, Deregulated Business, Renewables Business, and Other Businesses segments. The company produces electricity from onshore and offshore wind, marine energy, and other renewable sources; and through hydroelectric, nuclear, coal, gas combined cycle, and cogeneration facilities. It also provides project management, engineering, supply, construction and commissioning, turnkey project, and operational support services. The company’s portfolio of projects includes homes, offices, factory premises, and shopping centers. In addition, it operates, supervises, monitors, and manages telecommunications infrastructure comprising fiber optic and power line communications, plesiochronous digital hierarchy, synchronous digital hierarchy, dense wavelength division multiplexing, switchboards, and radio, as well as data-switching; and rents fiber-optic network to telecommunications operators and other customers. Further, the company engages in data management, marketing, real estate, material merchandising, finance, insurance, and gas trading and storage businesses. It sells energy products primarily to Federal Electricity Commission, as well as supplies directly to industrial companies and self-service store chains. The company is headquartered in Bilbao, Spain.

Iberdrola, S.A. Announces Earnings Results for the First Quarter of 2015

Iberdrola, S.A. announced earnings results for the first quarter of 2015. For the quarter, the company reported EBITDA grew 8.8% up to EUR 2.1 billion. Operating efficiency has improved 1.9%, maintaining the positive ratio recorded over the last years. Operating cash flow almost reached EUR 1.7 billion, with a 6.6% growth rate. Recurring net profit increased 7.2% to almost EUR 100 million. And net profit amounts EUR 841 million, almost flat in relation to 2014, due mainly to lower extraordinary positive result last quarter. Net profit fell 0.7% due to EUR 76 million of nonrecurring gross capital gains accounted for in first quarter 2014. Revenues were up 5.5% to EUR 8,781,000,000 while procurements rose 4.6% to EUR 5,167,000,000 due to worst procurement mix. Reported EBITDA for Networks was up 24% to EUR 967 million, with gross margin double-digit growth in all geographies and net operating expenses flat despite currency appreciation. EBIT increased 5.3% to EUR 1,344,000,000, lower than the 8.8% increase in EBITDA due to the 17% increase in amortizations, half of it due to the FX impact with the remainder linked to the increase in operating capacity in renewables, mainly in the U.K. Debt increases by EUR 587 million. Financial ratios continue to strengthen as the rise of the 2.3% in net debt is lower than 8.8% growth in EBITDA on 6.6% cash flow growth. FFO over net debt is over 21% on average. And retained cash flow over net debt reaches 17.8%.
