Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. researches, develops, manufactures, and markets photomultiplier tubes, imaging devices, light sources, opto-semiconductors, and imaging and analyzing systems primarily in North America, Europe, and Asia. Its Electron Tube division provides photomultiplier tubes, electron multipliers, microchannel plates, image intensifiers, X-ray products, and various light sources for use in medical, chemical analysis, measurement, industrial testing, and academic research applications. The company's Solid State division develops and manufactures silicon photodiodes, photo IC components, position sensitive detectors, infrared detectors, image sensors for low-light-level imaging and X-ray imaging, mini-spectrometers, and light emitting devices for applications in medical imaging, high-energy physics, and scientific measurement. Its Systems division develops and manufactures a range of cameras for scientific and industrial applications, as well as specialized instruments for use in the fields of pharmaceutical development, semiconductor manufacturing, X-ray nondestructive inspection, spectrophotometry, and optical communications. The company also provides semiconductor lasers and operates hotels. Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. was founded in 1948 and is headquartered in Hamamatsu, Japan.

For the period, the company reported net sales of JPY 90,278 million, operating income of JPY 18,209 million, ordinary income of JPY 19,300 million, income before income taxes and minority interests of JPY 19,308 million and net income of JPY 13,036 million or JPY 81.08 per share compared to the net sales of JPY 82,912 million, operating income of JPY 15,946 million, ordinary income of JPY 16,384 million, income before income taxes and minority interests of JPY 16,343 million and net income of JPY 10,872 million or JPY 67.62 per share for the same period a year ago. For the year ending September 30, 2015, on consolidated basis, the company expects net sales of JPY 124,300 million, operating income of JPY 25,200 million, ordinary income of JPY 26,100 million, net income of JPY 18,300 million and earnings per share of JPY 113.82. Hamamatsu Reports Licensing of ArradianceNanofilm Technology Portfolio

Hamamatsu Photonics K.K. reported that it has licensed certain Arradiance intellectual property for Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) nanofilms. In a release, the company noted that this technology, the subject of 11 issued US patents and several pending US and worldwide patents, is a foundational technology for next generation photomultiplier tubes (PMT) in use at several high energy physics installations worldwide. Photomultiplier tubes are being put to use as high-speed, high-sensitivity optical sensors in an increasingly broad spectrum of applications ranging from medical equipment to industrial fields.
