Thales Launches TransCity Fare Collections Solution

Thales has launched TransCity, a cloud-ready, fare collections solution for public transportation networks. With TransCity, Thales redefines the concept of urban travel by providing passengers with a variety of travel passes. Travelers will be able to either swipe their cellphones or contactless bank cards to enter public transportation; or use their contactless travel cards or simply use a traditional ticket. In addition to conventional ticket kiosks and automatic vending machines, payments can be processed on-line or on the go, with smartphones, or through newer technologies such as near-field communications (NFC). Operators using TransCity will be able to better manage and supervise their network infrastructure, anticipate potential equipment failures, as well as optimizing their maintenance services. In addition, with Thales's big data analysis tools, TransCity can help operators monitor critical periods to better accommodate travelers' needs such as regulating train traffic or entrance-exit configuration. The TransCity line consists of five elements customer, card, fare, traffic management, and business analytics - all of which guarantee both operators and passengers the best possible user experience. In addition, its modular architecture allows operators to choose the combination of products that best respond to their specific infrastructure needs.

Thales Launches New Generation Electronic Flight Bag Application Suite

Thales launched new generation electronic flight bag application suite with first customer Air France. This revolutionary product will be designed in cooperation with IT experts and pilots from Air France and numerous other airlines to gather their insights and understand their operational needs. The airline intends to equip its entire fleet with this new EFB software solution. Already at the leading edge of disruptive innovation and EFB solution deployment, Air France will be closely involved in the definition of the software suite. The result of this collaborative innovation approach will be an EFB solution designed to provide pilots with fully digitised access to all information required for the entire journey, from the moment they leave home to the moment they return. Operational efficiency improvements will also provide significant cost reduction for operators. The new software system will integrate a wide range of functions seamlessly such as e-Documentation, e-Briefing, e-Logbook or eWeather, within one simple solution with an intuitive graphical user interface designed by Man-Machine-Interface specialists. Leveraging the systems connectivity functionalities, pilots will have access to real time information that enhances their situational awareness. The new software will also allow advance mission planning to assist in all ancillary actions, including medical checks, passport renewals, all the way up to recurrent training alerts. The new generation TopWings is the first true digital assistant for pilots.

Thales Group to Provide Control Capability for Canadian Army's LRSS Project

Thales Group has partnered with DRS Sustainment Systems Inc. on a $100 million contract received from General Dynamics Land Systems, or GDLS, to produce mast mounted surveillance suites, operator control systems, engineering and support for the Canadian Army's light armored vehicle-reconnaissance surveillance system, or LRSS, project. Under the partnership, Thales will design, develop and qualify the Battlefield Operational Surveillance Software (BOSS) that enables soldiers to configure, control and monitor the surveillance suite sensors from a customized user interface, leveraging the established Thales pedigree from the Land Command Support System. Thales in Canada is the prime contractor of the Canadian Army's tactical battle management system. The BOSS software suite will be fully integrated in to the latest version of DRS' Surveillance and Battlefield Reconnaissance Equipment (SABRE) system, integrating radar, thermal imaging and laser systems on a stabilized mast. Thales is the provider of the main C4I NATO applications: Intelligence, Command & Control, and Common operational picture. Thales also delivers full communication capabilities for NATO applications in Afghanistan and C4I applications in Australia, France, Canada, Spain and Switzerland.
