Huaneng Power International, Inc., an independent power producer, generates and sells electricity and heat to the regional or provincial grid companies in the People’s Republic of China and Singapore. It is involved in the development, construction, operation, and management of power plants and related projects; and generation, wholesale, and retail of power and other relating utilities. The company generates power from coal, wind, gas, oil, and hydro resources. In addition, it provides cargo transportation services in coastal areas; warehousing, loading, and conveying services; port management, cargo loading, and water transport material supply; utility services; environment engineering services; consultancy in waste recycling; real estate agency services. Further, the company engages in aquaculture and agriculture irrigation activities; developing and leasing real estate; production and sale of mineral water; port development and construction, coal mixture, and machinery leasing and repair activities; industrial waste management and recycling activities; and the supply of water carriage materials. As of March 31, 2015, it had controlling generating capacity of 78,693 megawatts and a total generating capacity of 70,736 megawatts. The company was founded in 1994 and is headquartered in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China.

The Board of Huaneng Power International, Inc. proposed to amend Article 3, Article 15 and Article 19 of the articles of association, in order to reflect (among other things) the change to the issued share numbers of the company following completion of the non-public issuance of 365,000,000 H Shares in November 2014. The proposed amendments to the articles of association shall come into effect upon the passing of a special resolution at the shareholders' meeting to approve the amendments; and obtaining the approval and registration by the relevant government and regulatory authorities in the PRC.

Huaneng Power International, Inc. reported unaudited consolidated and parent earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, on consolidated basis, the company reported net profit attributable to shareholders of the company of RMB 5,034,088,983 or RMB 0.35 per basic and diluted share on operating revenue of RMB 34,277,583,268 compared to net profit attributable to shareholders of the company of RMB 4,159,785,025 or RMB 0.30 per basic and diluted share on operating revenue of RMB 36,630,790,849 a year ago. Operating profit was RMB 7,747,069,158 compared to RMB 6,301,829,885 a year ago. Profit before tax was RMB 8,234,712,916 compared to RMB 6,853,135,488 a year ago. Net cash flows generated from operating activities was RMB 11,396,872,288 or RMB 0.50 per share compared with RMB 8,529,594,604 a year ago. Cash paid for acquiring fixed assets, intangible assets and other long-term assets was RMB 5,870,356,705 compared with RMB 4,159,321,517 a year ago. Net cash flows generated from operating activities increased by 33.62% compared with the same period of last year, mainly due to the decrease in payments for fuel and materials purchase by the Company and its subsidiaries. For the quarter, on parent basis, the company reported net profit attributable to shareholders of the company of RMB 3,327,726,609 on operating revenue of RMB 13,478,767,897 compared to net profit attributable to shareholders of the company of RMB 2,416,411,897 on operating revenue of RMB 13,916,696,608 a year ago. Operating profit was RMB 3,746,524,261 compared to RMB 2,759,363,525 a year ago. Profit before tax was RMB 4,214,057,628 compared to RMB 3,278,186,248 a year ago. Net cash flows generated from operating activities was RMB 2,364,108,448 compared with RMB 2,824,619,021 a year ago. Cash paid for acquiring fixed assets, intangible assets and other long-term assets was RMB 1,086,600,786 compared with RMB 1,361,744,958 a year ago. The company reported assets impairment loss of RMB 293,038 for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015.

Huaneng Power International, Inc. Announces Power Generation for the First Quarter of 2015

Huaneng Power International, Inc. announced power generation for the first quarter of 2015. The Company's total power generation by the power plants within China on consolidated basis amounted to 82.545 billion kWh, representing an increase of 6.81% over the same period last year. Total electricity sold by the Company amounted to 77.992 billion kWh, representing an increase of 6.64% over the same period last year. The increase in power generation of the Company was mainly attributable to the acquisition of power plants from its parent company and the generation units which have been recently put into operation. The decrease in the power generation of some power plants as compared with the same period of last year was attributable to the major reasons: Firstly, in the first quarter of 2015, the economy in China continued to grow slowly, with the deepening of the country's economic restructuring as well as continuing decline in the growth of the power consumption nationwide, the power generation in the areas where the Company's coal-fired generating plants are located decreased correspondingly on consolidated basis over the same period last year.
