Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad, an investment holding company, provides a range of banking and financial products and services to consumer, corporate, and institutional customers. It operates through Commercial Banking, Investment Banking and Asset Management, Insurance, and Other Operations segments. The company offers consumer, business, branch and transaction, private, Islamic, and wholesale banking services; and treasury and wealth management services. It is also involved in futures and stock broking activities; and the provision of fund and unit trust management services. In addition, the company offers life, general, and Takaful insurance products, as well as nominee and custodian services; provides member’s and creditors’ voluntary liquidation services; invests in real estate properties; holds and deals in offshore securities; and issues subordinated notes. It operates a network of approximately 300 branches and 1500 self-service terminals in Malaysia, as well as has operations in Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, and Cambodia. The company was formerly known as Hong Leong Credit Berhad and changed its name to Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad in July 2006. Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad is a subsidiary of Hong Leong Company (Malaysia) Berhad.

Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad Announces Unaudited Group and Company Earnings Results for the Third Quarter and Nine Months Ended March 31, 2015; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Year 2015

Hong Leong Financial Group Berhad announced unaudited group and company earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, on group basis, net interest income was MYR 657,024,000 against MYR 631,845,000 a year ago. Operating profit before allowances was MYR 554,918,000 against MYR 607,481,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 699,716,000 against MYR 727,859,000 a year ago. The overall decrease was mainly due to lower contribution from insurance division. However, this was mitigated by higher contribution from banking division. Net profit attributable to owners of the company was MYR 363,499,000 against MYR 414,680,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share were 34.7 sen against diluted earnings per share of 39.7 sen a year ago. The company announced the lower group results were mainly due to a drop in insurance earnings, however, were mitigated by better performance from the banking division. For the nine months, on group basis, net interest income was MYR 2,051,785,000 against MYR 1,842,480,000 a year ago. Operating profit before allowances was MYR 1,804,152,000 against MYR 1,956,486,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 2,242,831,000 against MYR 2,293,612,000 a year ago. Net profit attributable to owners of the company was MYR 1,179,493,000 against MYR 1,256,622,000 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were 112.5 sen against 120.2 sen a year ago. Net cash flow used in operating activities was MYR 3,282,569,000 against net cash flow net cash flow from operating activities operating activities of MYR 4,255,534,000 a year ago. Purchase of intangibles assets was MYR 39,049,000 against MYR 90,046,000 a year ago. Purchase of property and equipment was MYR 155,227,000 against MYR 110,623,000 a year ago. For the quarter, on company basis, net income was MYR 219,777,000 compared with MYR 165,513,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 211,961,000 against MYR 156,337,000 a year ago. Net profit was MYR 209,016,000 against MYR 163,951,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share were 19.9 sen against 15.7 sen a year ago. Interest income was MYR 489,000 against MYR 896,000 for the last year. For the nine months, on company basis, net income was MYR 711,697,000 compared with MYR 387,698,000 a year ago. Profit before taxation was MYR 714,400,000 against MYR 465,592,000 a year ago. Net profit was MYR 711,697,000 against MYR 387,698,000 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share were 67.7 sen against 37.0 sen a year ago. Net cash flow from operating activities was MYR 49,585,000 against MYR 1,770,000 a year ago. Purchase of intangibles assets was MYR 137,000 compared with MYR 15,000 a year ago. Purchase of property and equipment was MYR 1,140,000 against MYR 47,000 a year ago. Interest income was MYR 3,110,000 against MYR 2,461,000 for the last year. Barring unforeseen circumstances, the Group is expected to perform satisfactorily for the current financial year.
