Hitachi to Establish "Industrial Products Company"

Hitachi Ltd. announced that on May 1, 2015, it will establish the Industrial Products Company as a new company integrating Hitachi's industrial product business. The goal of establishing the new company is to increase competitiveness in the industrial product business, including motors and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), and to expand business on a global scale. The Industrial Products Company will integrate the Power Systems Company's industrial products such as medium and large motors, substation equipments with the Infrastructure Systems Company's industrial products such as UPS, other power electronics products, pumps, compressors. In this way, Hitachi will increase product competitiveness and aim to be a top global company by strengthening the business base. By undertaking operations as one with Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems Co. Ltd. ("Hitachi Industrial Equipment Systems"), which is managing in the small industrial product business, the Industrial Products Company will establish a comprehensive product lineup, from small to large products, enabling the Hitachi Group to respond flexibly to needs in a wide range of industries, including the Oil & Gas, manufacturing, and energy fields. Sunway, Hitachi and Hitachi Asia (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd. to Collaborate on Energy Solutions

Hitachi Ltd., Hitachi Asia (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. and Sunway PFM Sdn. Bhd. announced a collaboration to implement an energy saving system and efficient energy management system for commercial buildings, facilities and condominiums in developing or developed townships owned or managed by Sunway using Hitachi's expertise in energy technologies. Under the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Hitachi and Sunway will conduct a joint study on energy saving technology and energy management system. Hitachi, using its energy management related technology and know-how, will propose suitable solutions to allow Sunway to pursue energy saving and energy management activities, and contribute to developing a low carbon society in Malaysia.

Thomas Cook Reportedly Eyeing Brink's Business

Thomas Cook (India) Limited (BSE:500413) is planning to make an acquisition. The company is eyeing India's cash management business of a US company. The news report quoted an unnamed source as stating, “A host of potential buyers have lined up to buy global security and protection company Brink's' cash management business in India, as the Richmond, Virginia (US)-headquartered firm looks to hive off the unit as part of global strategic review.” The report added that Hitachi Ltd.’s (TSE:6501) Prizm Payment Services Private Ltd., Thomas Cook (India), and SIS-Prosegur among others are interested in acquiring stake in The Brink's Company (NYSE:BCO). Share price of Thomas Cook shore up by 4% on March 11, 2015. Equirus Capital has been given the mandate for the transaction. While Equirus Capital refused to confirm developments, emails to Prizm Payments, SIS Prosegur and Fairbridge Capital, a holding company for Thomas Cook India remained unanswered at the time of going to press.
