Hawaiian Telcom Announces Management Changes

Hawaiian Telcom Holdco, Inc. announced that Scott Barber, currently Hawaiian Telcom's chief operating officer, has been selected as the company's new president and chief executive officer and will also serve as a member of the Board of Directors. Barber will assume the new role on June 22, 2015. Barber succeeds Eric Yeaman, who resigned to become the president & chief operating officer of First Hawaiian Bank. Hawaiian Telcom to Launch Hawaii's Only 1 Gig Internet Service

Hawaiian Telcom unleashed a 1 gigabit-per-second (Gbps) service beginning on June 8. Fiber 1 Gig offers double the speed of Hawaii's fast Internet, Hawaiian Telcom's 500 megabits-per-second (Mbps) speed. Hawaiian Telcom's Fiber 1 Gig service, which is equal to 1,000 Mbps, will be available to consumers with Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) technology statewide. About 96,000 locations will initially qualify for Fiber 1 Gig with more being added as Hawaiian Telcom's expansive deployment of fiber optic technology continues. As the number of bandwidth-hungry smart devices in the home and office environment continues to increase, Fiber 1 Gig provides more than enough capacity and speed to support multiple devices simultaneously without sacrificing quality. Hawaiian Telcom customers will be able to download and stream high-definition video content, work, shop and play games online instantly and seamlessly – all from the same shared connection. People who utilize cloud-based services will also see significant speed increases when transferring large or multiple files into or from the cloud.

Hawaiian Telcom Appoints Management

Hawaiian Telcom announced the appointment of Dan T. Bessey as its new Chief Financial Officer and Meredith J. Ching, senior vice president of government and community relations of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. (A&B), as the eighth member of its board of directors. Bessey joins Hawaiian Telcom from Cesca Therapeutics, where he served as Chief Financial Officer and managed the Finance and Accounting, Business Planning and Forecasting, Corporate Development, Investor Relations and Human Resources functions. Ching has served as a key member of A&B's executive management team since 2007.
