It offers current accounts, deposits, overdrafts, loans and other credit facilities, foreign currency and derivative products, private banking services, private customer current accounts, savings deposits, investment savings products, custody, credit and debit cards, and consumer loans and mortgages; and fund management products. The company also provides letters of credit, bills for collection, offshore guarantees, short and long term finance, and revolving credits/overdraft; international concierge services and funds settlement services; and e-banking and other services. It serves large corporate customers and blue chips, mid-size and fledgling corporate customers, small and medium-size enterprises and ventures, government ministries, departments, and agencies. Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was founded in 1990 and is based in Lagos, Nigeria.

World Bank Lends GTBank USD 175 Million for Expansion

An arm of the World Bank Group, the International Finance Corporation, has announced $175 million lending facility to Nigeria's Guaranty Trust Bank. Previously, in 2010, IFC had lent $200 million to GTB to assist in mitigating the effects of the global financial crisis of 2008/2009 on the Nigeria banking sector. It had strategic objective of improving confidence within the Nigerian financial sector, as well as with international investors. Although terms of the latest loan facility between GTB and IFC were not publicized, normally IFC loans have maturities of seven to 12 years at origination.

Guaranty Trust Bank plc Announces Audited Earnings Results for the Year Ended December 31, 2014

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc announced audited earnings results for the year ended December 31, 2014. For the period, the company reported interest income of NGN 200.60 billion compared to NGN 185.38 billion a year ago. Net interest income was NGN 142.39 billion compared to NGN 136.94 billion a year ago. Profit before tax was NGN 116.39 billion compared to NGN 107.09 billion a year ago. Profit for the year was NGN 98.69 billion compared to NGN 90.02 billion a year ago. Earnings per share NGN 3.47 compared to NGN 3.17 a year ago. Operating income was NGN 210.82 billion compared to NGN 189.63 billion a year ago. ROE (post-tax) was 27.93% compared to 29.32% a year ago. ROA (post-tax) was 4.43% compared to 4.69% a year ago. ROE (pre-tax) was 32.94% compared to 34.87% a year ago. ROA (pre-tax) was 5.22% compared to 5.58% a year ago. Interest Income growth was driven by strong loan growth of 27.1% and impressive yields on fixed income securities. Net interest income up 35.27% as a result of increased net gains on Financial instruments classified as held for trading and partly due to growth in commissions from financial guarantees and e-banking commissions. PBT growth derived from increased transaction volumes, effective management of the Bank's fx positions, strong loan growth and continued cost efficiency.
