Grupo México S.A.B. de C.V., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the exploration and exploitation of metallic and non-metallic ores. The company operates through Mining, Transportation, and Infrastructure divisions. It primarily explores for copper, molybdenum, zinc, silver, gold, and lead ores in Mexico, Peru, the United States, Chile, Ecuador, and Argentina, as well as engages in the mining of coal and coke. The company also provides railroad services to the agricultural, industrial, mineral, automotive, chemical, metals, cement, energy, and intermodal segments; general railroad freight and intermodal services in Mexico; and other auxiliary services that include passenger transport, intra-terminal pulling, and automotive terminal services. It operates a track network of approximately 10,500 kilometers. In addition, the company offers oil and water, and land drilling services, as well as value added services, such as cementation engineering and directional or slant drilling services; and engineering and construction services in the areas of engineering, planning, procurement, civil and electromechanical construction, supervision and control, and start-up, as well as constructs oil and gas projects, railway lines, multimodal and automotive terminals, highways, underground projects, and tunnels, and residential developments. Further, it undertakes hydroelectric and thermoelectric plants; deviation and storage dams, canals, and irrigation districts; and mining, exploration, smelter plant, and refinery works projects, as well as projects for the bottling, pharmaceutical, and automotive industries. The company was founded in 1942 and is headquartered in Mexico City, Mexico.

Grupo Mexico Mulls IPO Of Infraestructura y Transportes México

Grupo México S.A.B. de C.V. (BMV:GMEXICO B) announced on February 3, 2015, a plan to spin off its subsidiary Infraestructura y Transportes México, S.A. de C.V. and said it may offer some 15% of the business to investors. Grupo Mexico is also considering to offer some 15% of its railway transportation business to the public through an initial public offering (IPO) on the Mexican stock exchange BMV. The offer will be made by the spun-off subsidiary, which will be the owner of the railway business, the group explained.
