GKN plc engages in engineering business worldwide. The company’s Aerospace division manufactures integrated aerostructures, including wing/empennage and flight control surface assemblies and fuselage structures; fixed and rotating propulsion products for aircraft engines, fan cases, engine components, exhaust systems, and nacelles; transparencies comprising cockpit and cabin windows; and ice protection, fuel systems, and floatation devices. This division serves aircraft and engine prime contractors, and other tier one suppliers. Its Driveline division offers constant velocity jointed systems, such as CV joints and sideshafts; all-wheel drive systems comprising propshafts, couplings, and final drive units; trans-axle solutions, which include open, limited slip, and locking differentials and electronic torque vectoring products; eDrive systems, such as electric rear axles, transmissions, and motors; and composite flywheel-based energy storage systems. The company’s Powder Metallurgy division manufactures sintered components for engines and transmissions, pumps, bodies and chassis, and compressors; sintered bearings and filters; metal injection moulded components; metal powders; and soft magnetic components for electric motors. Its Land Systems division designs, manufactures, and supplies electro-mechanical power management devices, such as electromagnetic brakes, flexible couplings, clutches, driveshafts, and gear technology; hybrid power systems; sensors, actuators, and controls; custom designed wheels of single-piece or multi-piece design for arduous applications; advanced structures and chassis systems for various vehicle types; and aftermarket parts and remanufacturing for passenger cars, commercial trucks, agricultural and construction vehicles, and industrial applications. The company also provides engine liners to the truck market. GKN plc was incorporated in 2001 and is headquartered in Redditch, the United Kingdom.

GKN Opens Plant Expansion

GKN has opened the USD 100 million expansion to its Newton (North Carolina, United States) plants. The facility specialises in building all-wheel-drive units, including final drive units, power transfer units and clutches. GKN says the expansion will accommodate anticipated new business with major automakers in coming years. The site employs more than 800 people.

GKN Land Systems Reports Unaudited Sales Results for the First Half Ended June 30, 2015

GKN Land Systems reported unaudited sales results for the first half ended June 30, 2015. For the period, the company's sales were £371 million compared to £426 million a year ago.

GKN plc Announces Management Changes

GKN plc announced that Phil Swash would assume responsibility for GKN's Driveline business. The move comes after Andrew Reynolds announced his departure in July. Swash will take charge from 25 September 2015. Swash is currently responsible for GKN's Land Systems division. On the same date, Adam Walker, group finance director, will assume responsibility for GKN Land Systems in addition to his current role. Swash joined GKN Aerospace from Airbus in 2007 as CEO Aerostructures Europe and was appointed chief executive of Land Systems in January 2014.
