The company’s Energy Management segments offers plant automation hardware, software, and embedded computing systems, including controllers, embedded systems, advanced software, motion control, operator interfaces, and industrial computers. Its Aviation segment offers jet engines; aerospace systems and equipment; and replacement parts and repair and maintenance services for commercial and military aircraft, marine applications, and executive and regional aircraft. The company’s Healthcare segment provides medical imaging, software and information technology (IT), patient monitoring and diagnostics, drug discovery, biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies, and performance improvement solutions. Its Transportation segment offers freight and passenger locomotives, and diesel engines for rail, marine, and stationary power applications; railway signaling and communications systems; underground mining equipment; motorized drive systems; IT solutions; and replacement parts and value added services. The company’s Appliances & Lighting segment manufactures home appliances; and lighting products for commercial and industrial applications. GE to Provide Energy Storage System to Con Edison Development in California

GE announced that it will supply Consolidated Edison Development (CED), a developer, owner and operator of renewable and energy infrastructure projects, with an 8 MWh battery energy storage system in Central Valley, California. This new storage solution will be utilising GE's Mark VIe-based plant control system, Brilliance MW Inverters and packaged lithium ion battery modules. As part of its expanding energy storage portfolio, this project marks the first time GE will introduce a lithium ion battery solution. This system will provide two megawatts of power over a four-hour period and the deal includes delivery of a complete energy storage system, with associated long-term service agreements.

General Electric Company Reports Unaudited Consolidated Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015

General Electric Company reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the period, the company reported total revenues and other income of $29,356 million against $33,548 million a year ago. Loss from continuing operations before income taxes was $4,948 million against earnings from continuing operations before income taxes of $3,319 million a year ago. Loss from continuing operations was $11,406 million or $1.13 per diluted share against earnings from continuing operations of $2,700 million or $0.27 per diluted share a year ago. Net loss attributable to the company was $13,573 million or $1.35 per diluted share against net earnings of $2,999 million or $0.30 per diluted share a year ago. Cash from GE's operating activities (continuing operations), excluding dividends from GECC (Industrial CFOA) was $890 million against $1,250 million a year ago. Earnings from continuing operations attributable to GE, excluding the GE Capital exit impacts were $3,148 million against $3,329 million a year ago. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and to account for discontinued operations, came to 31 cents per share.

Con Edison Development Enters into Agreement to Procure GE Energy Storage System

GE announced it will supply Con Edison Development (CED) with an 8 MWh battery energy storage system in Central Valley, CA. As part of its expanding energy storage portfolio, this project marks the first time GE will introduce a lithium ion battery solution. The system will provide two megawatts of power over a four-hour period, and the deal includes delivery of a complete energy storage system, with associated long-term service agreements. Working with CED, GE utilized advanced analytics and modeling to evaluate potential benefits of the energy storage system. The California-based installation will be CED’s first energy storage project and will serve as a learning tool for optimizing and operating energy storage facilities in the future. The site is expected to be operational in the next six to nine months.
