Gamesa Wins 50MW Wind Turbine Contract in Uruguay

Gamesa has secured a contract to supply turbines for the 50MW Maldonado II wind farm, located in the departments of Maldonado and Lavalleja in south-eastern Uruguay. The contract with Smartener covers supply, installation and commissioning of 25 of Gamesa's G114 2MW turbines at the wind farm. The deal also includes a five-year O&M services agreement. Gamesa plans to start turbine delivery in November 2015 and the wind farm is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2016. Phase one of the Maldonado wind farm was also developed by Smartener. It is already operational, featuring 25 of Gamesa's G97 2MW turbines. The company said the deal for Maldonado is its first contract in Uruguay for G114 2MW turbine model, which is designed to yield more power at lower cost at low and medium wind speed sites.

Gamesa Signs Contract for Turnkey Construction of 220 MW Wind Farm in Egypt

Gamesa has signed a new contract1 for the turnkey construction of the Gulf of El Zayt wind farm on the Egyptian Red Sea coast, where it will install 110 of its G80-2.0 MW turbines. This project, which was awarded by the NREA (New & Renewable Energy Authority) by means of an international tender, will receive public financing from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Under the scope of the agreement, Gamesa will handle the supply, installation and commissioning of a total of 110 of its G80-2.0 MW turbines, starting in September 2015. The reliability and adaptability of this robust turbine make it ideal for the desert land, corrosive atmosphere and high temperatures typical of the Egyptian market. The company will also handle construction of the civil engineering and electric infrastructure needed to install and operate the facility and will provide operations and maintenance services for three years. The wind farm is expected to be commissioned during the second half of 2017.

Gamesa Receives Two New Orders in China for the Supply of 50 MW to Hebei Construction & Investment Group and 48 MW to Fujian Energy

Gamesa has received two new orders in China for the supply of 50 MW to Hebei Construction & Investment Group and 48 MW to Fujian Energy. Under the terms of the contract signed with HCIG, Gamesa will supply, install and commission 25 of its G97-2.0 MW turbines at the Senjitu II wind farm located in the province of Hebei, in south-west Peking. The wind turbines are scheduled for delivery this year. This firm order falls under the scope of agreement, for the supply of a total of 150 MW, signed by the two companies in September 2014. Since 2008, Gamesa has supplied 128 MW to HCIG, the large operator in the province of Hebei and a top ten player at the national level. Elsewhere, the agreement reached with Fujian Energy encompasses the supply, installation and commissioning of 24 of the firm's G97-2.0 MW turbines at the Dingyanshan wind farm located in the province of Fujian. These turbines are custom-designed to withstand the extreme winds typical of this coastal area which is often hit by typhoons. These turbines are due for delivery during the fourth quarter of 2015 so the project can be commissioned by the end of the year. In total, Gamesa has secured orders for the supply of 130 MW from Fujian Energy, for whom it recently completed assembly of the 48-MW Dahanshan wind farm, also located in the province of Fujian. Gamesa's ability to tailor its turbines to its customers' individual needs, coupled with its command of the wind value chain, have enabled it to consolidate its presence in the Chinese market, where the company notched up orders in 2014 for the supply of 450 MW.
