Gamesa to Supply Nine Wind Turbines to Repower Ovenden Moor Wind Farm in UK

Gamesa Corporación Tecnológica S.A. has received a contract to supply nine wind turbines to repower the Ovenden Moor wind farm in the UK. By replacing the old turbines, the facility - in operation since 1993 - will be refitted with modern technology and produce twice as much power using less than half as many turbines. Under the terms of the agreement, Gamesa will supply, install and commission nine of its G80-2.0 MW wind turbines at the Ovenden Moor wind farm located close to the town of Halifax, in the county of West Yorkshire. This repowering project, which is due to commence generation in 2016, will enable the replacement of 23 turbines that are 22 years of age and present aggregate capacity of 9 MW with nine Gamesa turbines that will produce twice as much power (18 MW). The wind farm's installed capacity, once upgraded to 18 MW, will enable the supply of renewable energy to close to 12,000 homes in the UK and displace the emission of 21,000 tonnes of GHG per annum.

Gamesa Reports Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 2015; Provides Production and Earnings Guidance for 2015

Gamesa reported earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 2015. For the quarter, the company reported operating profitability is growing, and the EBIT margin of the second quarter has represented 8.2% relative to revenues compared to 8% of EBIT, relative to revenues obtained in the first quarter of the year 2015. For the six months, the company reported sales in the first semester have totaled EUR 1,651 million, which represents a 31% increase year on year. Revenues have been 8.4%. And this level of EBITDA of EUR 136 million accounts for 64% improvement relative to the EBIT of the same period the previous year. Net profit prior to the Adwen operation totals EUR 86 million, which multiplies by 2, the levels of net profit achieved 1 year ago. The company ends with a positive cash flow of EUR 39 million. Underlying EBIT now stands at EUR 136 million, which is 64% compared more than what the company had last year with an underlying EBIT margin of 8.2%. EBIT is EUR 165 million, which is double the figure reported last year. Revenues were driven by 36% growth in revenues in the wind turbine area, mainly as a result of higher activity, which amounted to 1,481 MWe, 24.9% more than in the first half of 2014. This growth is attributable to the company's sound diversified position: India and Latin America accounted for 45% of total MWe sales, while developed markets such as Europe and the US raised their contribution to 38%. China contributed 17%. Net profit more than doubled in the first half of 2015, to EUR 97 million, driven by sales growth, optimisation of variable costs, a positive currency effect and the recognition of Adwen. For the full year of 2015, the company expects sales volume of 3,100 MWe. For the full year of 2015, the company expects revenues of EUR 3,400 million and underlying EBIT margin of =8%. .
