Fujitsu Launches New Enterprise Tablet and 1U Rack-Mounted Workstation

Fujitsu Limited has announced the launch of a new model in its Fujitsu tablet ARROWS Tab, a series of enterprise tablets running Windows, along with a new model in its Fujitsu workstation CELSIUS, a series of enterprise PC workstations. For the tablet, Fujitsu is newly offering ARROWS Tab Q665/L, an 11.6" high-spec water-resistant tablet equipped with the latest Intel Core M processor, which delivers both high performance and a high degree of mobility. The water-resistant, dust-resistant, and anti-chemical functions of the tablet, along with its abundant accessories, enable it to be used in a variety of different scenarios to match customers' work needs. Fujitsu is also newly offering CELSIUS C740, a 1U rack-mounted workstation equipped with the latest Intel Xeon processor. Operating efficiency is achieved through physically integrating the workstation environments dispersed among different locations. The key product features include: A tablet equipped with Intel Core M processor for work in the office or on the go and CELSIUS C740, a 1U rack-mounted model that improves operational efficiency through co-location of physical machines. ARROWS Tab Q665/L is a tablet equipped with the latest Windows 8.1 Pro operating system and a high-resolution 11.6" full HD display (1,920 x 1,080 pixels). It uses the Intel Core M processor, a new platform that does not require the use of a cooling fan. As a result, despite the tablet's high performance, it has a long battery life that can last up to 10.1 hours maximum, while its body is smaller than A4 (297 x 210mm) sized paper and only weighs approximately 795 grams. As the tablet lacks a fan and is equipped with a silent flash memory disk, it is exceedingly quiet, making it well suited for quiet conference rooms and classrooms. The tablet is water resistant (IPX5/7/8) and dust resistant (IP5X), so it is safe to use outside even if it suddenly rains. Its chemical resistance enables it to withstand being wiped down with alcohol after use to keep it clean, enabling its use in settings where hygiene is a priority. For security, a fingerprint sensor is a standard feature, with options to add a customized security chip, NFC, and a smart card slot, while the wireless WAN model supports CLEARSURE 3G/LTE, a remote data erasure solution, ensuring safe, secure mobile operation. In addition, there are a variety of accessories to allow the tablet to adapt to each customer's workstyle, including a slim keyboard and expandable cradle, a car battery adapter, a cover that comes with a strap and can work as a stand, and a shoulder strap that allows for operation while hanging the tablet from the user's neck. It can also be equipped with a digitizer panel, allowing for delicate text input with a stylus. The CELSIUS C740 is a rack-mounted workstation equipped with the latest Intel Xeon E5 processor family. The 1U size (based on EIA standards) is the smallest size rack-mounted type, and it can be consecutively mounted to server room racks without any gaps. It is also compatible with the latest graphics cards, NVIDIA Quadro K5200/K4200/K2200/K620/K420, and can therefore process CAD and CAE, along with applications such as those that conduct analysis simulations at high speeds, providing a convenient work environment. This product allows for the workstations of each respective user to be physically co-located in one location. By constructing a desktop environment that users connect to through a network from their client terminal and connecting to it to use C740, overall operational efficiency is improved, with higher security and lower maintenance costs. In addition, the RemoteAccess card, which can be equipped as a customized option, can compress CELSIUS C740 image data as if it were hardware in order to transmit the data faster to client terminals. By connecting the RemoteAccess card to the highly compatible FUJITSU Thin Client FUTRO L420 zero client terminal, even when working from a remote location, users can feel as if their own dedicated PC workstation is nearby. It also supports the C740 remote management controller, and is equipped with features required for server room equipment, such as remote operating functions via a network and 24-hour continuous operations.

Barnsley College Selects Fujitsu as Technology Partner

Fujitsu has been selected by Barnsley College as technology partner for a project aimed at enhancing learning, by digitally transforming the college. A range of workstations, tablets and laptops will be deployed across the facility, to directly benefit the student and teaching community, by improving efficiency and mobility. The contract will see Fujitsu deploy ESPRIMO PCs, STYLISTIC Tablets, LIFEBOOK Notebooks and PRIMERGY Servers across the college. The new Construction Centre (for careers in the construction sector), set to open in September 2015, and the Sixth Form College and Learning Curve will be the first departments to be transformed as part of the programme. The benefits are already being reaped as the simple act of logging on to a system has been bought down from three and a half minutes to 30 seconds.

Fujitsu Limited Launches NewFUJITSU IoT Solution UBIQUITOUSWARE, Wearable Device for Enterprises, in Japan

Fujitsu Limited has launched the new FUJITSU IoT Solution UBIQUITOUSWARE head mounted display, a wearable device for enterprises, in Japan. The Head Mounted Display product consists of a 0.4-inch display (854 x 480 dots), a camera, two microphones, and various sensors, with a non-see-through extension positioned in front of one eye. It can be operated with the included wearable keyboard or by voice. Constructed to be tough and for use with confidence in challenging environments such as precarious heights, the product is water-resistant (IPX5/7) and dust-resistant (IP5X) for outdoor use. For infrastructure inspections or factory assembly work, the display allows for safe and accurate hands-free task support in the form of images, video, and audio. In addition, this product will help make it possible to have fewer on-site staff as it allows for remote support from skilled operators, enabling higher work quality regardless of experience. When conducting infrastructure inspections at precarious heights or performing a complex assembly with both hands in manufacturing, less-experienced operators may either need to stop what they are doing to look up the procedure in a manual or confer with a more skilled counterpart, making it difficult to work efficiently. But with experienced workers getting older and the time needed for training considerable, securing well-trained staff is becoming a problem. This has created a demand for an ICT-based form of task support that can be used in a variety of environments and that allows for safe, efficient work. To meet that need, Fujitsu combined the high level of expertise in head mounted display (HMD) development of US-based Kopin Corporation with its own human-centric technologies cultivated through PC and mobile device development to create an HMD designed to support a wide range of field work. Combining an HMD with middleware such as FUJITSU Software Interstage AR Processing Server, an augmented-reality platform product, and operational-support services such as FUJITSU Business Application AZCLOUD SaaS teraSpection allows for task support using still pictures, video, and audio. The operator wears the Head Mounted Display and views the display for information pertaining to the tasks being performed, such as inspection check lists or work procedures, while using both hands for the task. This dramatically improves operational efficiency and avoids problems of overlooking steps or doing them out of order. The unit can be used with the attached wearable keyboard or the audio command function to carry out a variety of operations, including turning pages in a work manual, entering numbers or taking images with a camera. The Head Mounted Display is designed for safety, even in challenging environments. It support for tasks in the field with a wide range of functions and connects to business systems, enabling know-how to be accumulated. The Head Mounted Display product is constructed to be tough, water-resistant (IPX5/7), and dust-resistant (IP5X), survivable at drops from a height of 1.5 meters. A built-in light sensor automatically adjusts display brightness for the surroundings to ensure good visibility indoors or out. The unit includes a high-capacity battery that can last for up to about four hours, and allows for easy battery swaps. The position of the display can be adjusted, and it can be worn with glasses, directly on the head, or attached to typically used helmets. The built-in accelerometer detects changes in the operator's movements, and can notify a manager with an alarm if the operator falls, making it an effective way to quickly discover accidents. The product can communicate with smart devices through Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and any problems discovered in the field can be relayed in real time with sound and video using the built-in camera and microphone, to give managers a fast and accurate report on the situation. In addition, more experienced operators can give support remotely while watching the video feed from the scene. This reduces the number of skilled operators that need to be in the field and allows the operator on the scene to receive instructions hands-free for safer and more accurate task performance. Photos and video captured with the built-in camera can be stamped with time and location data collected with a smart device, and stored as an activity log. These logs can be centrally stored on business systems or the management servers of cloud services, and spots that involve heavy workloads or procedures that are prone to be performed incorrectly can be identified so that manuals can be created, to promote safer and more accurate task performance. The Head Mounted Display is available with a software development kit that includes developer documentation and libraries, so that companies can develop solutions that work with their business systems, and the product can be adapted to specific purposes.
