This sector markets and sells its products through distributors and dealers, as well as through dealerships to fleet customers, including commercial fleet customers, daily rental car companies, and governments. The Financial Services sector offers various automotive financing products to and through automotive dealers. It provides financing products, including retail installment sale contracts for new and used vehicles; and direct financing leases for new vehicles to retail customers, government entities, daily rental car companies, and fleet customers. This sector also offers wholesale loans to dealers to finance the purchase of vehicle inventory; and loans to dealers to finance working capital and improvement of dealership facilities, purchase dealership real estate, and other dealer vehicle programs. The company was founded in 1903 and is based in Dearborn, Michigan.

Ford Motor Co Plans to Lay Off 700 Workers Owing to Poor Car Sales in India

Ford Motor Co announced its laying off 700 workers at a Michigan assembly plant because of slow sales of the small cars and hybrids it makes. The Michigan Assembly Plant, in the Detroit suburb of Wayne, will move from three shifts to two starting June 22. The plant, which makes the Ford Focus and C-Max hybrid, has been operating on three shifts since 2012.

Ford Motor To Sell Twin Cities Assembly Plant Site

Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F) owns the 135-acre campus that was once home to Ford's Twin Cities Assembly Plant in Highland Park but plans to sell it to a master developer by 2018. The timeline will likely depend on the pace of environmental testing and remediation. The city will rezone the property in 2016.

Ford Unveils New Taurus

Ford unveiled its newest Taurus, the company is joining the race to appeal to Chinese business buyers by offering bigger, more luxurious back seats. The Taurus, Ford Motor Co.'s first full-size sedan in China. The sedan was unveiled ahead of this week's Shanghai auto show. It is due to be produced at a new $760 million Ford factory in Hangzhou, southwest of Shanghai. Inside: The new Taurus's wheelbase is three inches longer than the standard Taurus at 116 inches, with the added space going to the back seat. Ford says there are 25 stowage spaces throughout the cabin and cup holders designed to hold tea bottles. Designers used leather for the seats and noise-deadening materials to keep the cabin quiet. The rear seat has a control panel for air conditioning and onboard media. Outside: Features include LED tail lights and 19-inch alloy wheels. Under the hood: The Taurus will come with Ford's new twin-turbo 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine. The company said that lightweight materials and advanced controls make it more powerful and efficient. Gas mileage: Not announced. Price: Not announced.
