Fairfax Financial Holdings Limited reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. For the quarter, net premiums written were $1,754.3 million against $1,645.4 million a year ago. Net premiums earned were $1,676.0 million against $1,532.2 million a year ago. Net losses on investments were $661.2 million against net gain on investments of $409.0 million a year ago. Earnings before income taxes were $372.9 million against earnings before income taxes of $523.2 million a year ago. Net loss was $178.6 million against net earnings of $366.4 million a year ago. Net loss attributable to shareholders of the company was $185.7 million or $8.87 per basic and diluted share against net earnings attributable to shareholders of the company of $363.7 million or $16.15 per diluted share a year ago. For the six months, net premiums written were $3,586.4 million against $3,257.8 million a year ago. Net premiums earned were $3,288.1 million against $2,969.9 million a year ago. Net losses on investments were $484.7 million against net gain on investments of $1,415.1 million a year ago. Earnings before income taxes were $42.0 million against earnings before income taxes of $1,642.5 million a year ago. Net earnings were $57.5 million against $1,151.4 million a year ago. Net earnings attributable to shareholders of the company were $39.5 million or $0.71 per diluted share against $1,148.3 million or $51.84 per diluted share a year ago.
