fairchild semiconductor inte (FCS) Details

Fairchild Semiconductor International, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures, and markets power analog, power discrete, and non-power semiconductor solutions worldwide. It operates through three segments: Mobile, Computing, Consumer, and Communication (MCCC); Power Conversion, Industrial, and Automotive (PCIA); and Standard Discrete and Standard Linear (SDT). The MCCC segment offers analog components, mixed signal integrated circuits (ICs), and low voltage power metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs) for mobile, consumer, computing, and communication applications; signal path products, such as analog and digital switches, USB switches, video filters, and audio amplifiers; and packaging solutions include surface mount devices, tiny packages, chip scale packages, and leadless carriers. Its analog products monitor, interpret, and control variable functions comprising light, color, sound, and energy. The PCIA segment provides analog and mixed signal ICs, multi-chip smart power modules, and discrete power products. Its analog and mixed signal ICs are used to control discrete semiconductors in applications, including power switching, conditioning, signal amplification, power distribution, and power consumption. The SDT segment offers a range of semiconductor products, such as MOSFET, junction field effect transistors, high power bipolar, discrete small signal transistors, Zener diodes, rectifiers, bridge rectifiers, Schottky devices, and diodes; bipolar regulators, shunt regulators, low drop out regulators, standard op-amp/comparators, low voltage op-amps, and others; and infrared products. The company’s products are used in mobile, industrial, appliance, automotive, consumer electronics, and computing markets applications. It sells its products to distributors, original equipment manufacturers, and electronic design and manufacturing services customers. The company was founded in 1959 and is headquartered in San Jose, California.

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. Announces First Commercial USB Type-C Devices

Fairchild Semiconductor International Inc. announced that its first commercial USB Type-C devices are shipping in LeTV's newly launched Le 1, Le 1 Pro and Le MAX series smartphones. Fairchild's latest USB solution integrates all key features of the new Type-C connector in an amazingly tiny 1.2mm x 1.2mm WLCSP package. Small footprint and extremely low standby power operation makes the solution ideal for the next wave of mobile products, dongles, travel adapters, PCs, accessories, and wearables which will feature the capabilities of the new USB interface. USB Type-C is backward compatible with USB legacy data protocols and standards, with the added benefit of having the same connector on each end of the cable. This means significantly less fumbling around for the right connector to charge or sync a device. As industry adoption grows consumers will only need one cable for any of their devices, for both data and power connections. The new USB standard's footprint helps enable slimmer designs, as evident in LeTV's new super-thin smartphones boasting close to no bezels around the display. Fairchild devices designed in by LeTV mark the debut of a new small footprint, family of solutions that consume very low power with minimal impact to battery life. They also take advantage of a simple communication interface, making the overall design easier and simpler to implement.
