First Capital, Inc., a federally-chartered savings bank, operates as the bank holding company for First Harrison Bank that provides various banking services to individuals and business customers primarily in Harrison, Floyd, Clark, and Washington counties in Indiana. The company offers a range of deposit instruments, including non-interest bearing checking accounts, negotiable order of withdrawal accounts, money market accounts, regular savings accounts, certificates of deposit, and retirement savings plans. It also provides real estate mortgage loans; fixed-rate and adjustable rate mortgage residential loans; construction loans for residential properties and commercial properties; commercial real estate loans; and commercial business loans. In addition, the company originates mortgage loans for sale in the secondary market and sells non-deposit investment products; and offers various secured or guaranteed consumer loans comprising automobile and truck loans, home equity loans, home improvement loans, boat loans, mobile home loans, and loans secured by savings deposits, as well as unsecured consumer loans. First Capital, Inc. provides its products and services through 12 locations in southern Indiana. The company was founded in 1891 and is based in Corydon, Indiana.

First Capital Inc. reported unaudited consolidated earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported net interest income of $4,253,000 compared to $4,204,000 a year ago. Net interest income after provision for loan losses $4,253,000 compared to $4,179,000 a year ago. Income before income taxes was $1,938,000 compared to $1,859,000 a year ago. Net income was $1,469,000 compared to $1,300,000 a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $1,466,000 compared to $1,297,000 a year ago. Basic and diluted net income per share was $0.53 compared to $0.47 a year ago. Return on average assets was 1.26% compared to 1.16% a year ago. Return on average equity was 10.15% compared to 9.60% a year ago. The Bank recognized net charge-offs of $1.2 million for the quarter ended March 31, 2015 compared to a net recovery of $65,000 during the same period in 2014. The net charge-offs recognized in 2015 primarily related to a $1.2 million charge-off on a commercial loan that had been fully reserved for in prior periods.

First Capital Inc. Appoints Dana L. Huber to its Board

On February 17, 2015, the Board of Directors of First Capital Inc., in conformity with the Company’s articles of incorporation and bylaws, increased the size of the Board from twelve members to thirteen members by increasing the number of Class 3 directors to four. The Board appointed Dana L. Huber to fill the vacancy on the Board as a Class 3 director. Ms. Huber will serve until the Company’s 2017 annual meeting of stockholders or until her resignation or death, if earlier, and (along with the Company’s other Class 3 directors) will be considered for election by the Company’s stockholders at the Company’s 2017 annual meeting. At this time, the Board does not anticipate that it will name Ms. Huber to any committees of the Board until after the 2015 annual meeting of stockholders.

First Capital, Inc. Declares Quarterly Cash Dividend, Payable on March 30, 2015

The Board of Directors of First Capital Inc. declared a quarterly cash dividend of $0.21 per share of common stock. The dividend will be paid on March 30, 2015 to shareholders of record as of March 16, 2015.
