The company’s Networks segment delivers products and solutions for mobile access, Internet protocol (IP) and transmission networks, core networks, and cloud. This segment offers radio access solutions; IP routing and transport solutions; transmission/backhaul solutions comprising microwave and optical transmission solutions for mobile and fixed networks; IP multimedia subsystem solutions; and operations support systems, as well as supports operators’ management of existing networks. Its Global Services segment delivers managed services, such as services for designing, building, operating, and managing networks or solutions; maintenance; network sharing solutions; shared solutions; and managed services of IT environments, as well as provides broadcast and media services. This segment also offers product-related services, including services to expand, upgrade, restructure, or migrate networks; network-rollout services; customer support; and network optimization services. In addition, it provides consulting and systems integration services comprising technology and operational consulting, integration of multi-vendor equipment, design and integration, and transforming programs; and industry specific solutions. The company’s Support Solutions segment offers operations support systems; business support systems that provide revenue management, mediation, and customer care solutions; television (TV) solutions for the creation, management, and delivery of TV experiences on any device over any network; and M-Commerce solutions for money transfer. It serves telecom operators and government, as well as media, transport, and automotive industries. Ericsson was founded in 1876 and is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden.

Motiv and Ericsson to Cooperate on LTE Expansion

Motiv and Ericsson are expanding their strategic partnership to extend Motiv's LTE network in the Urals. Motiv's 4G grid is due to be developed in the Yekaterinburg, Kurgan, Yugra and Yamal-Nenets regions. Under the agreement, Ericsson will deploy new network infrastructure elements and provide support services. Motiv's LTE network now operates in Yekaterinburg, Nizhny-Tagil, Kurgan, Surgut, and will be expanded in other locations.

Ericsson Wins LTE expansion contract with Chunghwa Telecom

Ericsson has won an LTE expansion contract with Chunghwa Telecom. The agreement will expand Chunghwa Telecom's 4G LTE coverage and capacity with Ericsson mobile broadband technology. Chunghwa Telecom's LTE expansion, including small cell build-out, will address the increasing capacity demand to deliver more music, video, and value-added business services. Ericsson will continue to serve as sole supplier for the entire core network, including a multi-access Evolved Packet Core, and as a major supplier for RAN in Taiwan's most populated areas, including Taipei city.

Ericsson Appoints Patrik Melander as New Head of Customer Unit for GCC and Pakistan

Ericsson has appointed Patrik Melander as head of customer unit for the GCC and Pakistan (GCP). In his new role, Melander will oversee Ericsson’s business within GCC and Pakistan geographies in addition to his current responsibilities as head of global customer unit Zain at Ericsson. Melander has more than 22 years of international experience within Ericsson where he started in the research and development sector in 1993 then worked in a number of global and regional positions based in the USA, Japan, Brazil, Costa Rica, Philippines, Sweden and recently UAE.
