Eni SpA engages in the oil and gas, electricity generation and sale, petrochemicals, oilfield services construction, and engineering industries. The company is involved in the oil and natural gas exploration, and field development and production activities, as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations in 40 countries, including Italy, Libya, Egypt, Norway, the United Kingdom, Angola, Congo, Nigeria, the United States, Kazakhstan, Russia, Algeria, Australia, Venezuela, Iraq, Ghana, and Mozambique. It also supplies, trades, and markets gas, LNG, and electricity; transports international gas; supplies crude oil; and refines and markets petroleum products at retail and wholesale markets primarily in Italy and rest of Europe. In addition, the company engages in the generation of electricity; commodity risk management and asset-backed trading activities; and production of various chemicals, including olefins and aromatics, basic intermediate products, polyethylene, polystyrenes, and elastomers in Italy and Western Europe. Further, it provides a range of engineering, drilling, and construction services to the oil and gas industry, and downstream refining and petrochemical sectors, primarily in the field of EPC contracts offshore and onshore for the construction and installation of fixed platforms, sub-sea pipe laying and floating production systems, and onshore industrial complexes. Eni SpA was founded in 1953 and is headquartered in Rome, Italy.

According to Hungarian media, Eni SpA (BIT:ENI) wants to sell the third largest petrol station chain in Hungary, operating under the Agip brand. Polski Koncern Naftowy Orlen Spolka Akcyjna (WSE:PKN) and Gruppo MutuiOnline S.p.A (BIT:MOL) do not deny prospective talks about taking over the chain from the Italians.

Eni SpA Reports Group Earnings Results for the Second Quarter and Six Months Ended June 30, 2015; Reports Production Results for the Second Quarter and First Half of 2015; Revised Production Guidance for the Year 2015; Records Impairment of Assets for the Second Quarter of 2015

Eni SpA reported group earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2015. The company reported second-quarter losses of €113 million ($124 million) or €0.20 per share or $0.45 per ADR amid a sharp decline in oil prices. The loss compared with a net profit attributable to shareholders of €658 million or €0.18 per share or $0.49 per ADR in the same period last year. Net sales from operations was €23,786 million against €27,353 million a year ago. Adjusted operating profit was €762 million and adjusted net profit attributable to shareholders was €139 million against adjusted operating profit was €2,728 million and adjusted net profit attributable to shareholders was €883 million a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was €5,678 million against €5,740 million a year ago. For the first half of 2015, the company reported operating profit of €1,945 million and net profit attributable to shareholders of €591 million or €0.16 per share or €0.36 per ADR on net sales from operations of €45,979 million against operating profit of €5,901 million and net profit attributable to shareholders of €1,961 million or €0.54 per share or $1.48 per ADR on net sales from operations of €56,556 million reported a year ago. Adjusted operating profit was €2,329 million and adjusted net profit attributable to shareholders was €787 million against adjusted operating profit was €6,219 million and adjusted net profit attributable to shareholders was €2,074 million a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was €2,304 million against €2,074 million a year ago. Net cash provided by operating activities was positively affected by higher receivables due beyond the end of the reporting period, being transferred to financing institutions, in comparison to the amount transferred at the end of the previous reporting period (up by €95 million from December 31, 2014). The Group's net debt increased by €2,792 million from December 31, 2014, reflecting currency translation differences amounting to €259 million. In the first half of 2015, capital expenditure amounted to €6,237 million against €5,524 million in the first half of 2014. Second quarter production was 1.754 million barrels of oil equivalent a day, up nearly 11% from a year earlier. In the second quarter of 2015, natural gas sales amounted to 22.39 bcm, up by 3.30 bcm or 17.3% compared to the same period of 2014. For the first half of the year, production was 1.726 million boe/d in the first half of 2015, up by 9%. The company increased its full-year guidance to 7% growth in production, up from 5%, with new fields starting or ramping up in Venezuela, Angola, Congo and the United States, as well as higher volumes in Libya. . The company recorded impairment of assets of €323 million for the second quarter of 2015.

Eni Appoints Alessandro Profumo as Director

The board of directors of Eni has co-opted Alessandro Profumo as Director replacing Luigi Zingales, who resigned on 2 July 2015. The Nomination Committee supported the Board in the evaluations. Alessandro Profumo is a non-executive, independent Director and now he is not a member of any internal committee.
