Atos and EMC Corporation to Further Strengthen Strategic Alliance

Atos and EMC Corporation announced plans to further strengthen their strategic alliance. Three years ago, Atos, EMC, and VMware jointly created Canopy, the end-to-end cloud service provider enabling customers to drive transformational IT via the cloud. With 37% revenue growth over the last year Canopy has been ranked by IDC as a leading European cloud professional service provider based on revenues. The successful development of Canopy, the recent significant reinforcement of Atos in big data, and security through the acquisition of Bull as well as the growing access of Atos in North America through the planned acquisition of Xerox ITO open new possibilities for the Atos and EMC strategic relationship. These developments now enable Atos and EMC to extend the scope and possibilities of what the two companies can achieve together across the EMC Federation of strategically aligned businesses and the newly expanded Atos capabilities. These moves will allow the continuous support and strong collaboration of EMC and VMware with Canopy, while strengthening the partnership between the EMC Federation of strategically aligned businesses and Atos Consulting & System integration as well as the newly created Big Data & Cyber-Security Atos divisions.

Lieberman Software Announces Interoperability with RSA(R) Identity Management and Governance Platform to Help Leverage Enterprise Identity Governance for Advanced Cyber Warfare Defense

Lieberman Software Corporation announced an interoperability/go to market partnership with RSA, the Security Division of EMC. The interoperable solution combining Lieberman Software's Privileged Access Management (PAM) product, Enterprise Random Password Manager™ (ERPM), and RSA's Identity Management and Governance (IMG) platform will help organizations manage, control and enforce both privileged and end user access to applications, systems and data across the enterprise and the cloud, all in a single unified platform. Managing privileged users and auditing their access is no longer optional, based on regulatory compliance requirements and as evidenced by the spate of recent major data breaches, many of which occurred due to misuse of privileged access. What has become apparent is that managing and governing end user access separately from privileged access can open up organizations to risk, create security gaps and deprive organizations of a complete view of identity context for access-related decisions. With this interoperability, organizations can unify their end user and privileged user access policies and controls from a single, centralized platform. The interoperable solution is designed to give organizations visibility to all identities and access, in order to make informed access decisions within a proper access governance framework, helping to enable them to appropriately evaluate and manage identity-related risks. This new, tightly coupled interoperable solution joins a number of other existing ones between ERPM and other RSA Security products, including the RSA SecurID® multifactor authentication solution and the award winning RSA® Security Analytics platform.

EMC Corporation to Support VMware vSphere 6

EMC Corporation announced support for VMware vSphere 6 within its product and solution roadmap and development cycle, enabling customers to leverage EMC's storage platforms to virtualize scale-up and scale-out applications with confidence, redefine availability, and simplify the virtual data center. EMC storage platforms including VMAX®, VNX®, VNXe, VPLEX® and XtremIO will offer support for VMware vSphere 6 this quarter. Later this year EMC will also extend key vSphere 6 capabilities across additional EMC storage platforms and hybrid cloud solutions. EMC storage platforms supporting VMware environments will leverage a variety of powerful new vSphere 6 capabilities designed to help drive down data center cost, increase system and application uptime, and drastically simplify the way IT runs the data center. EMC Storage Platforms Supporting VMware vSphere 6: EMC VMAX3: architected for massive scale and delivering trusted data services across the storage infrastructure, VMAX3™ service level-based management allows vSphere administrators to set and deliver performance targets for applications and provides enterprise data services on a per application basis; EMC VNX/VNXe: VNX/VNXe and vSphere 6 combine for exceptional efficiency and flexibility in the midrange by providing VM-level copy, data deduplication, and workload mobility over distance; EMC VPLEX: accelerated IOPs at low latencies designed to ensure non-stop operations and continuous availability of scale-up and scale-out applications virtualized with vSphere 6; EMC XtremIO: enabling transformational workload consolidation and agility benefits through a scale-out all-flash array, XtremIO is engineered to enable the entire landscapes of diverse Tier 1 applications like databases and SAP to be consolidated in vSphere 6 and without risking their SLAs. Beyond unmatched infrastructure simplification, this enables instant copies for real-time analytics, DBaaS, and application admin self-service. New features within VMware vSphere 6 are designed to enable enhanced compute, management and storage capabilities to support both traditional and next-generation applications. EMC believes a number of new features in VMware vSphere 6 may also benefit hybrid cloud environments, including: new vRealize Business 6.0 Standard and vRealize Operations 6.0 within VMware vCloud Suite 6 offer cost transparency and monitoring capabilities respectively for the private cloud and can be extended to the public cloud; VMware vRealize Automation public cloud extensions can simplify the process for provisioning and managing workloads in the public cloud; vSphere Common Library for Content Storage and Management can enable customers greater scalability and more unified management across geographically distributed private and public clouds; Virtual Graphics Processing Unit (vGPU) is designed to accelerate graphics processing in VDI and hybrid cloud environments; VMware Integrated OpenStack distribution can enable enterprise-grade OpenStack within hybrid cloud environments running in parallel on VMware infrastructure; vSphere Virtual Volumes enables deeper levels of integration between vSphere and storage arrays and can extend Software-Defined Storage policy automation to hybrid cloud environments and supported EMC storage platforms. This feature is designed to offer increased control of storage operations and data services at the VM level while maintaining all the gold-standard information storage performance, protection and management inherent within EMC storage platforms; customers can leverage EMC Elastic Cloud Storage™ to provide Object Storage capabilities for OpenStack environments using VMware Integrated OpenStack. EMC storage platforms including VMAX, VNX, VNXe, VPLEX and XtremIO will offer support for VMware vSphere 6 in the first quarter of 2015.
