Emera Incorporated, an energy and services company, through its subsidiaries, engages in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity to various customers. The company is also involved in gas transmission and utility energy services businesses; and the provision of energy marketing, trading, and other energy-related management services. It has approximately 5,000 kilometers of transmission facilities and 27,000 kilometers of distribution facilities in Nova Scotia; approximately 1,600 kilometers of transmission facilities and 15,000 kilometers of distribution facilities in Maine; and 82 kilometers of transmission facilities and 1,743 kilometers of distribution facilities in the island of Barbados. In addition, it transports re-gasified liquefied natural gas to consumers in the northeastern United States through its 145-kilometre pipeline in New Brunswick. It serves residential customers comprising individual homes, apartments, and condominiums; and commercial customers, such as retail operations, offices, commercial complexes, universities, and hospitals, as well as industrial customers, which include manufacturing facilities and other large volume operations. The company serves approximately 504,000 customers in Nova Scotia; 155,000 customers in the state of Maine; and 126,000 customers in the island of Barbados. It provides regional energy solutions primarily in eastern Canada, the northeastern United States, and the Caribbean. Emera Incorporated was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Halifax, Canada.

Emera Inc. Announces Executive Changes

Chris Huskilson, President and CEO of Emera Inc. announced a realignment of the company's management structure, including new responsibilities for two of its key executives. Rob Bennett, currently Emera's EVP and COO has been named Chief Operating Officer, Emera Eastern Canada, and Scott Balfour, currently EVP and Chief Financial Officer, will take on the new position of Chief Operating Officer, Northeast United States and Caribbean. Mr. Balfour will continue to serve as CFO while a search is conducted for a new CFO. Mr. Balfour's new responsibilities will be phased-in. He will initially assume the role of Chair of Emera Energy in addition to his CFO role. Once the new CFO is in place, Mr. Balfour will assume the balance of his new responsibility for Emera's Northeast U.S. and Caribbean businesses. In Mr. Bennett's new role, he will assume overall executive responsibility for Emera's Eastern Canadian businesses, which will include Emera Newfoundland and Labrador once the Maritime Link project is operational.

Emera Incorporated Reports Consolidated Earnings Results for the Fourth Quarter and Full Year Ended December 31, 2014

Emera Incorporated reported consolidated earnings results for the fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported operating revenue of CAD 792.6 million compared to CAD 594.4 million a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was CAD 228.0 million compared to CAD 215.2 million a year ago. Net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 151.2 million compared to CAD 21.0 million a year ago. Adjusted net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 78.5 million compared to CAD 63.0 million a year ago. Basic earnings per common share were CAD 1.05 compared to CAD 0.16 a year ago. Adjusted basic earnings per share was CAD 0.54 compared to CAD 0.47 a year ago. For the full year, the company reported operating revenue of CAD 2,971.9 million compared to CAD 2,230.2 million a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was CAD 946.5 million compared to CAD 829.5 million a year ago. Net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 406.7 million compared to CAD 217.5 million a year ago. Adjusted net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 319.2 million compared to CAD 259.4 million a year ago. Basic earnings per common share were CAD 2.84 compared to CAD 1.64 a year ago. Adjusted basic earnings per share were CAD 2.23 pared to CAD 1.96 a year ago. Cash flow from operations increased 35.1% to CAD 762.5 million in 2014 compared to CAD 564.2 million in 2013. The increase year-over-year was primarily due to higher trading and marketing margin and the 2013 acquisition of New England Gas Generating facilities.
