Edison International, through its subsidiaries, generates and supplies electricity. The company generates electricity through hydroelectric, diesel, natural gas, gas fueled, combustion turbine, nuclear, and photovoltaic sources. It supplies electricity primarily to residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural, and other customers, as well as public authorities through transmission and distribution networks. The company’s transmission facilities consist of lines ranging from 33 kV to 500 kV and substations; and distribution system comprises approximately 53,000 line miles of overhead lines, 37,000 line miles of underground lines, and approximately 800 distribution substations located in California. It serves approximately 5 million customer accounts. The company was formerly known as SCEcorp and changed its name to Edison International in February 1996. Edison International was incorporated in 1887 and is based in Rosemead, California.

Edison International Announces Consolidated Earnings Results for Fourth Quarter and Full Year Ended December 31, 2014; Provides Capital Spending Guidance for the Year 2015 and 2016

Edison International announced consolidated earnings results for fourth quarter and full year ended December 31, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported total operating revenue of $3,114 million, operating income of $693 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $565 million, income from continuing operations of $406 million, net income attributable to company common shareholders of $420 million or $1.27 per diluted share, income from continuing operations, net of tax of $381 million or $1.15 per diluted share compared to the total operating revenue of $2,943 million, operating income of $505 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $359 million, income from continuing operations of $289 million, net income attributable to company common shareholders of $301 million or $0.92 per basic and diluted share, income from continuing operations, net of tax of $264 million or $0.81 per basic and diluted share for the same quarter a year ago. Edison International's fourth quarter 2014 core earnings exclude income of $24 million, or $0.08 per share, related to a revised estimated impact of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) Settlement, and income of $41 million, or $0.13 per share, primarily due to discontinued operations. Edison International's fourth quarter 2013 core earnings exclude income of $37 million, or $0.11 per share, from discontinued operations. Core earnings were $355 million or $1.08 per share compared to $264 million or $0.81 per share a year ago. For the year, the company reported total operating revenue of $13,413 million, operating income of $2,472 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $1,979 million, income from continuing operations of $1,536 million, net income attributable to company common shareholders of $1,612 million or $4.89 per diluted share, income from continuing operations, net of tax of $1,427 million or $4.43 per diluted share, net cash provided by operating activities of $3,248 million, capital expenditures of $3,906 million $12,581 million, operating income of $1,715 million, income from continuing operations before income taxes of $1,221 million, income from continuing operations of $979 million, net income attributable to company common shareholders of $915 million or $2.78 per diluted share, income from continuing operations, net of tax of $879 million or $2.67 per diluted share, net cash provided by operating activities of $2,967 million, capital expenditures of $3,599 million a year ago. Edison International uses core earnings, which is a non-GAAP financial measure that adjusts for significant discrete items that management does not consider representative of ongoing earnings. Edison International management believes that core earnings provide more meaningful comparisons of performance from period to period. Core earnings were $1,497 million or $4.59 per share compared to $1,237 million or $3.80 per share a year ago. For the year 2015, the company expects capital spending is down $100 million, For the year 2016, the company expects capital spending is $200 million in 2016.

Edison International Announces Board Changes

Bertrand A. Valdman has resigned as senior vice president, strategic planning of Edison international, effective February 20, 2015. Ronald l. Litzinger, executive vice president of Edison International and President of Edison Energy Inc., will lead the strategic initiatives effort until a permanent replacement can be named.
