It operates in three segments: Medical and Healthcare; International and Professional Educational; and Business, Technology and Management. The Medical and Healthcare segment operates American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, Chamberlain College of Nursing, and Carrington College. This segment provides various medical, nursing, and veterinary education programs; and prepares students for careers in healthcare through certificate and associate degree programs, as well as post-licensure bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degree programs in nursing online. The International and Professional Education segment operates various institutions comprising Fanor, Ruy Barbosa, ÁREA1, Faculdade Boa Viagem, Centro Universitário Vale do Ipojuca, Faculdade Diferencial Integral, Faculdade DeVry Sao Luis, and Faculdade DeVry Joao Pessoa, which primarily offers undergraduate and graduate programs in business, management, medical, healthcare, law, and engineering. This segment also operates Becker Professional Education that provides professional education serving the accounting, finance, project management, and healthcare professions. The Business, Technology and Management segment offers career-oriented master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degree programs in technology, science, business, and the arts. The company was formerly known as DeVry Inc. and changed its name to DeVry Education Group Inc. in November 2013. DeVry Education Group Inc. was founded in 1931 and is headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois.

DeVry Education Group Inc. to Close Edina Campus as it Shifts Focus Online

DeVry Education Group Inc. announced that it will close its Edina campus by the end of the year. The company is closing the location as part of a plan to focus more on online education. DeVry expects to close 14 campuses nationwide and consolidate five more. DeVry is closing the 386-student Edina campus partly because enrollment there is down. The school will offer students at the Edina site 20% discounts on tuition for online programs or to attend another DeVry campus. DeVry opened its Edina facility in 2004. The company opened a second Twin Cities campus in St. Louis Park a year later, but that has since closed.

DeVry Education Group Inc. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company reported total revenues of $489.830 million compared to $496.117 million a year ago. Operating income was $49.450 million against $69.537 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $47.955 million against $69.069 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations was $41.628 million against $56.151 million a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $47.120 million or $0.72 per diluted share against $55.525 million or $0.86 per basic and diluted share a year ago. For the nine months, the company reported total revenues of $1,436.754 million compared to $1,438.298 million a year ago. Operating income was $123.063 million against $138.370 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations before income taxes was $121.520 million against $136.743 million a year ago. Income from continuing operations was $104.867 million against $113.630 million a year ago. Net income attributable to the company was $109.973 million or $1.68 per diluted share against $96.548 million or $1.49 per diluted share a year ago. Net cash provide by operating activities was $209.367 million against $263.209 million a year ago. Capital Expenditures were $64.301 million against $47.609 million a year ago. For the fourth quarter of 2015, the company expects effective income tax rate from operations will be in the 14% to 15% range. The company expects capital spending for the current fiscal year to be in the range of $95 million to $100 million, which is lower than the original expectations.
