Deutsche Telekom and Cisco Launch Intercloud Services on Openstack

Deutsche Telekom and Cisco are announcing a number of newly developed Intercloud-based services for small- and medium-sized businesses and enterprise customers. The announcement builds upon the long-standing strategic relationship between Deutsche Telekom and Cisco. The two companies announced their Intercloud collaboration in September 2014. Deutsche Telekom and Cisco are currently setting up the necessary infrastructure for a redundant Intercloud node in Deutsche Telekom's high-performance data centers in Magdeburg and Biere near Berlin, Germany. Deutsche Telekom will deliver sovereign and highly secure services that meet Germany's strict data protection standards to business customers throughout the European region. With the initial Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering, Cisco and Deutsche Telekom provide an open source cloud platform based on the OpenStack industry standard. This allows the transition of all virtualized workloads into the cloud at the scalability and with significantly improved cost efficiency, while helping to ensure data sovereignty. Moreover, standardized APIs, open standards, virtualization and application policy libraries will be added. This allows true workload mobility between private enterprise clouds, virtual private clouds of Deutsche Telekom, public cloud infrastructures of different providers and the Intercloud node; greatly simplifying cloud access for customers. As a completely virtualized service, Intercloud is highly scalable and reliable. Based on this cloud platform, further Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS) will be developed between Deutsche Telekom, Cisco and their strategic Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partners. Special focus will be given to cloud applications enabling the Internet of Everything (IoE), collaboration, cloud-based virtual managed services and cloud-based systems management solutions.

Deutsche Telekom and Huawei Sign Partnership Agreement

Deutsche Telekom and the Huawei are expanding their partnership further and are now also working together on information technology. The two companies signed a global framework agreement for IT infrastructure and private cloud solutions. Huawei brings hardware and solution expertise, the Deutsche Telekom subsidiary T-Systems, its extensive cloud expertise. T-Systems is the first international partner to work so closely with Huawei on new concepts for IT infrastructure platforms. Apart from the global delivery of hardware and software, the two companies want to start technology projects together and develop solutions for private cloud computing as well as traditional IT infrastructures that are to be transferred to the cloud. The first activities for new cloud services are already underway. With the mobile data center "Rechenzentrum-to-go" (RZ2Go) at CeBIT in hall 2, the two companies are demonstrating a mobile cloud data center for use on customers' premises. All the technical systems, from servers and storage components, to cooling systems and the power supply are completely preinstalled in a shipping container.

Deutsche Telekom Showcases New Private Cloud Solutions for Large SMEs

At CeBIT 2015, Deutsche Telekom is presenting new modules from its private cloud portfolio Managed IT Services which are aimed particularly at large SMEs. These include Managed Backup to the Cloud, an online backup solution with 500 GB storage capacity to store, synchronize and access data in the private cloud from anywhere, using any device. The backups are made automatically at certain times and intervals, and the data sorted according to parameters such as file size or type. The information is transferred using AES 256-bit encryption. A web portal allows users to manage the online hard drive. Big data solution and site networking The big data solution SAP HANA is a second new product, which is based on the database technology underlying SAPs in-memory computing. The computers main memory, as opposed to a separate database, is used to process large volumes of data in real time. Deutsche Telekom ensures secure operation of the SAP infrastructure in its highly secure German data centers. The Cloud VPN, a solution for internetworking company sites, is also new. The individual sites are linked on centralized routers in the private cloud, with data transferred securely over the public Internet courtesy of an IPSec tunnel. Customers themselves can use a self-service app to monitor connection setup and clear-down as well as the data exchanged. At CeBIT, Deutsche Telekom is also unveiling its upgraded Managed Workplace offering, a fully fledged managed workstation from the private cloud. An integrated IP PABX as well as a video and collaboration solution with support for call swipe are also new. This feature enables users to switch calls to and from seamlessly between their devices. The product will be available from the third quarter of 2015. TeamLike for large SMEs Deutsche Telekom is presenting a new variant of its social business collaboration application TeamLike in Hanover. The TeamLike platform is run on dedicated servers, i.e. servers operated exclusively for the customer in Deutsche Telekoms German data centers. A mobile client is also new, which provides wireless access to TeamLike, and can be used on laptops, smartphones and tablets. Deutsche Telekom's entire presence at the trade fair is carbon-neutral: All CO2 emissions generated in setting up and operating the stand are offset fully by carbon-reduction projects abroad.
