Dover Corporation manufactures and sells a range of equipment and components, specialty systems, and support services in the United States. The company operates in four segments: Energy, Engineered Systems, Fluids, and Refrigeration & Food Equipment. The Energy segment provides solutions and services for the production and processing of oil, natural gas liquids, and gas to drilling and production, bearings and compression, and automation end markets. The Engineered Systems segment offers precision marking and coding, digital textile, soldering and dispensing equipment, and related consumables and services; and automation components, including manual clamps, power clamps, rotary and linear mechanical indexers, conveyors, pick and place units, glove ports, and manipulators, as well as end-of-arm robotic grippers, slides, and end effectors for printing and identification, vehicle service, waste handling, and industrial end markets. The Fluids segment focuses on the safe handling of critical fluids across the retail fueling, chemical, hygienic, and industrial markets. It also manufactures connectors for use in various bio-processing applications; and reciprocating pumps that are used in demanding and specialized fluid transfer process applications. The Refrigeration & Food Equipment segment provides refrigeration systems, refrigeration display cases, walk-in coolers and freezers, specialty glass, commercial glass refrigerator and freezer doors, and brazed heat exchangers; and electrical distribution products and engineering services, commercial food service equipment, cook-chill production systems, custom food storage and preparation products, kitchen ventilation systems, conveyer systems, beverage can-making machinery, and packaging machines used for meat, poultry, and other food products. The company was founded in 1947 and is headquartered in Downers Grove, Illinois.

Dover Revises Earnings Forecast for 2015

Dover revised earnings forecast for 2015. For the year, the company now expects revenue to decline -4% to -6% versus a prior revenue forecast of +1% to -2%. This revised forecast includes organic revenue of -2% to -4%, a -4% impact from foreign currencies and growth from completed acquisitions of 2%. The main factors driving this revision are weaker North American oil & gas markets, the exchange rate impact of foreign currencies and slower capital spending within the company's core retail refrigeration end markets. EPS is now anticipated to be in the range of $4.20 to $4.40 as compared to its prior guidance of $4.70 to $4.95. This new forecast represents a $0.55 reduction to the high-end of the prior guidance and a $0.50 reduction to the low-end. Approximately $0.20 of the full-year impact of this revised forecast will be reflected in the first quarter of 2015.

For the quarter, the company reported revenue of $1,977,947,000 against $1,785,922,000 for the same period in the last year. Operating earnings were $263,491,000 against $267,222,000 for the same period in the last year. Earnings before provision for income taxes and discontinued operations were $230,987,000 against $240,810,000 for the same period in the last year. Earnings from continuing operations were $171,835,000 or $1.03 per diluted share against $172,227,000 or $1.00 per diluted share for the same period in the last year. Net earnings were $169,294,000 or $1.02 per diluted share against $193,963,000 or $1.13 per diluted share for the same period in the last year. Adjusted diluted earnings per common share from continuing operations were $1.03 against $1.00 for the same period in the last year. Adjusted diluted earnings per common share were $1.02 against $1.13 for the same period in the last year. Adjusted earnings from continuing operations were $167,975,000 against $169,889,000 for the same period in the last year.
