Data Group Ltd. announced unaudited consolidated earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30, 2014. For the quarter, the company reported revenues were CAD 78,128,000 compared to CAD 74,129,000 for the same period of last year. The increase, before intersegment revenues, was the result of a CAD 3.4 million increase in the DATA East and West segment and a CAD 0.7 million increase in the Multiple Pakfold segment, respectively. Income before finance costs and income taxes was CAD 4,236,000 compared to loss of CAD 18,708,000 for the same period of last year. Income before taxes was CAD 2,555,000 compared to loss of CAD 20,540,000 for the same period of last year. Net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 1,849,000 compared to loss of CAD 20,164,000 for the same period of last year. Diluted earnings per share were CAD 0.08 compared to loss of CAD 0.86 for the same period of last year. Net cash provided from operating activities was CAD 5,863,000 against CAD 3,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was CAD 990,000 against CAD 1,202,000 a year ago. EBITDA was CAD 5,917,000 against LBITDA of CAD 15,253,000 a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was CAD 6,158,000 against CAD 4,371,000 a year ago. The increase in comparable profitability for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2014 was due to cost savings realized as a result of prior restructuring initiatives that led to a decline in SG&A expenses, a reduction in restructuring expenses, amortization of intangibles and current income tax expense for the third quarter and first nine months of 2014, respectively. For the nine months, the company reported revenues were CAD 232,804,000 compared to CAD 234,814,000 for the same period of last year. The decrease, before intersegment revenues, was the result of a CAD 3.2 million decrease in the DATA East and West segment and was partially offset by a CAD 1.4 million increase in the Multiple Pakfold segment. Income before finance costs and income taxes was CAD 9,097,000 compared to loss of CAD 18,850,000 for the same period of last year. Income before taxes was CAD 4,058,000 compared to loss of CAD 24,237,000 for the same period of last year. Net income attributable to common shareholders was CAD 2,899,000 compared to loss of CAD 22,963,000 for the same period of last year. Diluted earnings per share were CAD 0.12 compared to loss of CAD 0.98 for the same period of last year. The increase in comparable profitability for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2014 was also due to the absence of any goodwill impairment charges during 2014. Net cash provided from operating activities was CAD 5,539,000 against CAD 7,061,000 a year ago. Purchase of property, plant and equipment was CAD 1,784,000 against CAD 2,009,000 a year ago. EBITDA was CAD 14,288,000 against LBITDA of CAD 8,123,000 a year ago. Adjusted EBITDA was CAD 16,263,000 against CAD 17,515,000 a year ago.
